“Good Food Huge Establishment”
Reviewed 1 week ago

We drove through this area during the day. Our driver advised it was called Ghost Street, because it's empty during the day and comes alive at night. He was not wrong! We didn't specifically come here to go to this restaurant but glad we did. I tried the famous Peking duck here it was ok but the other dishes were sublime crispy lamb, pork, shrimp fantastic. We just kept ordering and ordering, we were not the only ones locals seemed to eat non stop here. The only downside of this experience was getting home. It took around 1.5 hours for them to try and hail or book a taxi and in the end our hotel had to come and pick us up.

“Awful”
Reviewed 1 week ago

This place was SO disappointing.
We went to the location on a strip mall kind of thing, in the middle of a row of other restaurants.

The food took forever. Our server was rude. They didn't give us the duck drumsticks (I don't remember if it ended up being in the soup) and this was the most we ever paid for a peking duck. The pork here was okay - we tried two pork dishes, one of which was a bit on the sweet side and the other of which was too tough.

Our duck experiences at siji minfu wangfujing and quanjude were so much better. The duck at huajia was just not as well prepared, not flavorful, and the guy cutting it was obviously inexperienced.

Add to that the long wait times when the restaurant was empty save for 3 other tables and our rude waiter, and it was just an all around awful experience. We paid 470 RMB to be mistreated and disappointed.

“FACE MASK CHANGING”
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Came for dinner as part of a Wendy Wu Tour - there were 15 of us at two tables in the courtyard:Peking Duck was fine but no the mind blowing experience as I was looking forward to - probably a little too fatty & the pancakes were too thick & a little flowery .Numerous other dishes arrived in a fairly haphazard fashion which were good & tasty -but far too much food.
But what made the evening very special was the cabaret - topped by the Face Mask Changing artist. We were right at the front of the stage plus he changed one mask right infront of my wife & I -still couldn't work out how he did it - total magic & an absolutely brilliant performance.
The building is also an attraction - way of the top Chines themed architecture: A fun night with more than acceptable food -possible tourist trap but heh we are tourists!

“Very accessible for Western guests ”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

Came for one thing and one thing only: proper peking duck, and Hua's delivered just that.

Don't be deterred by the masses of people waiting outside as there is a lot of take-away available for which most, if not all, people are waiting. Head in and you'll be helped by English speaking staff (if not, they will be called for you).

We had the full duck with side dishes (168 RMB only), which was simply excellent. It is cut for you at your table (refer to pics) and comes with the pancakes etc. Rest of the menu looked great too (esp. on the neighbouring tables), but we had no more appetite after a full duck.

Highly recommended.

“The architecture is a highlight”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

We had a great meal here. Dishes were very finely made with near perfect cooking timing. The surroundings of this restaurant is one of its biggest selling point. It was a private, typical Beijing style, residence. The restaurant took pain to retain the architecture characters. They have staff that can give guided tour in many languages. Service was very good as well. Unfortunately could not comment on the price because we were invited. TO ensure a table, reservation is highly recommended.
