This award-winning restaurant serves traditional Bavarian and German dishes. The restaurant serves classical German dishes like Frankfurter, Thuringian sausages or Pork knuckle, but also has lighter meals like creamy potato or onion soup, or one of our crisp German salads all served in a genuine, spacious Bavarian setting. The expansive beer garden is the perfect place to relax with friends and family, enjoying a hearty meal and a glass of our home-brewed Paulaner beer. Listen to the swinging sounds of our nightly live band or be a guest during our famous Oktoberfest or Maifest. Good food and great beer. At the rear of the Kempinski hotel in Chaoyang district. The only strange factor is local waitresses in Dirndl costume, and the chinese maitre-d' in Lederhosen, very inconguous. Otherwise a great place for lunch.

Miserable staff serving high priced meals....
The foreign floor manager tries his best to make up for it though.

There is a moment when even trained China hands are looking for something different to eat. Something more familiar to the spoiled Western stomach, like Schweinsbraten (crusty pig meat), Knoedel (dumplings), Sauerkraut (no wonder they call them Krauts) and Wuerstel (sausages). Well this is the place to go and enjoy. Outside beer garden in summer, reservation recommended.

If you are looking for Western food, this is the place. German beer brewed on premise and all the Bavarian staples. Various sausages, schnitzel, pork hock and yes, even strudel. All food we tried was a decent representation of the authentic dish, A very busy high energy place, they have a band on the weekends. Sorry, no Bavarian music. Quite high priced for common German fare but after all, it is in China.
