Description: Beijing's premier and most popular microbrewery, the Paulaner Bräuhaus, is the place for steins of great beer and hearty Bavarian hospitality. This award-winning restaurant serves traditional Bavarian and German dishes. The restaurant serves classical German dishes like Frankfurter, Thuringian sausages or Pork knuckle, but also has lighter meals like creamy potato or onion soup, or one of our crisp German salads all served in a genuine, spacious Bavarian setting. The expansive beer garden is the perfect place to relax with friends and family, enjoying a hearty meal and a glass of our home-brewed Paulaner beer. Listen to the swinging sounds of our nightly live band or be a guest during our famous Oktoberfest or Maifest. Paulaner Bräuhaus is a popular gathering spot for tourists, locals and foreign residents alike, so come and get a taste of the “Old World” flavor on offer here.

I have been to a Hofbrau Haus in Germany and when you step into the Paulaner, you will think you are there. Very authentic food, beer, outfits, atmosphere, etc. Only reason I hate to say how wonderful this place is, is that it may become more crowded.

We went here with a group of eight on a busy Friday night. Overall, the place was what we wanted for our group - comfortable, good sized tables, and a band started at 9. Some of our party was late, but they had no problem letting half of us sit and order a beer while the rest arrived. The place is noisy (but so where we), so that was fine. My overall gripe was it was expensive. For a place that makes the beer, the draft beer is some of the most expensive in Beijing. The food prices were moderate to high, but was just OK quality. My pork and ham were great, but the veal sausage was undercooked, and a friend had another undercooked sausage. They added a standard service charge to the bill - which for Beijing is unusal. After we settled the check, a few of us decided to get one more round of beers - and they hit us with another service charge. Our portion of the bill was almost 800 RMB for 2 people, which is quite expensive considering the mediocre food and that we had no wine, just draft beer.

Dear tpkinsl,
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on your last visit at our Paulaner Brauhaus Restaurant. We are delighted to hear that you and your friends have spent a great evening and enjoyed the atmosphere.
With great regret we have learned that the sausage was served undercooked, which was not the excellence in service you should expect from our restaurants. We've shared your feedback with respective departments and hope this will not deter you
Looking forward to welcoming you hopefully soon again to the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center.
Best regards,
Hotel Management

The beer is expensive but really good. The food is good and reasonably priced - especially the sausages and the Wiener Schnitzel.
And it is so much fun to go here with Chinese business partners and share a little bit of "German culture" (actually Bavarian and I am from the north of Germany...) with them.
It is best to visit in spring and autumn when you can really enjoy the beer garden, which is an absolute highlight.
