If you're looking for a clean, accessible and affordable spot to stay in Beijing, this is the place. They have a friendly staff that appreciates your business and a subway station about 1km away. You won't find shops or restaurants close by...If you're looking for a busy scene, this hotel is not for you. The main reason we chose this place was the great price. We got what we expected, and a little more.

Plus. There was a breakfast buffet of Chinese food that was so good and filling I needed to eat no lunch. The bathroom and shower were comfortable, and when one showered, not everything got wet, as happens in some Chinese bathrooms. The price was quite reasonable, and the hotel was 2 blocks from the Temple of Earth, and 3 blocks from a subway.

Minus. The room was quiet, except one could overhear everything in the next room. So depending on neighboring guests, it was quiet or noisy. Only one public computer in the lobby. The hotel was hidden from the main street by a huge building, so it was hard to find. When I asked about laundry, I was informed they charged by the piece; for 20 socks they wanted 100 Yuan. Instead I bought 7 new pair for 40 Yuan.

Overall. Though this was only one subway stop from that of the Drum Tower, the neighborhood had far fewer foreigners. Nevertheless, the shopkeepers were friendly to me, even though I spoke almost no Chinese. One gal from the hotel reception left her post to help me purchase train tickets across the street. She was extremely helpful and knew English. Her help made the stay in the hotel pleasant.

Cheap hotel with great staff close to the Andingmen subway!
It can be a bit hard to find though, a lot of the taxi drivers won't know where it is even if you have the adress in chinese.

Stayed here for 4 nights in October. Staff made us wait for two hours before allowing us to check in because they had yet to receive our reservation confirmation from Expedia. That was really annoying, but whatever. Probably would have been better if we could speak Mandarin and they could communicate in English. The room was nice enough, especially for China. Only wired internet in the rooms, which was incredibly slow. The beds were super hard, even for China and it was really noisy. Could hear everything in the rooms around us, plus noises from outside and the hallways. We actually moved rooms because our first room faced a track field, and we were woken up one morning at 8am to the sound of guns firing for a track meet and lots and lots of cheering and singing over amplified speakers. The second room was not as bad, but still noisy and we never felt rested in the morning. Anyways, the toilet was nice and clean with only minor smells (again, good for China) and the shower was nice with hot water and great water pressure. The shower leaked and was a little moldy, but this is normal here and didn't bother us. It was a nice room to come back to at night. Also a ten minute walk to the metro. Didn't have a chance to eat in the restaurant. Not too many restaurants nearby, so never ate in the area. All in all, I think this is a good hotel for the value and loved having a tea kettle in the room. Book on agoda for the cheapest rate. We paid $26 for our room (King bed aka double with internet). Expedia claims that the room contains a fireplace, bathrobes and bathtub. It does not =)

Great option, it's a 10 minutes walk from the metro's Andingmen station. It's not easy to see from the street, is behind an office building on . The rooms are ample with all the normal amenities plus: FREE Internet, Fridge, and kettle. There is a supermarket walking 10 minutes in the opposite direction of the metro station.
We also stayed at another branch of the same hotel chain close to the Railway, but this is definitely better. The other is a little bit further from the metro and the closest metro station is always full. The service of the front desk is also superior at the Andingmen branch as well as the bathroom.

This review is for the Andingmen branch of this hotel (I think many of these reviews are for other branches).

First: Location. This place is so easy to get to, you do not need a taxi. Get onto Line 2 of the Beijing subway and get off at Andingmen Station. Take exit B and walk about 5 minutes along Andingmenwai Dajie, the hotel is on your right hand side, just before you get to the second foot-bridge and just after KFC.

Second: Price. I booked this hotel for £100 for 5 nights on Expedia.co.uk. I'm not sure if its available anywhere cheaper but the rates at reception were double this. Fantastic price I find.

Third: The Room. There was a king-size bed in our room which was enormous and quite comfortable, with clean linen. Air-conditioning was in the room and a TV (but only 1 English channel) and free internet.
The only problem is that the bathroom had a very strong stench coming from one of the drains that was very overpowering. We had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times, and keep our trips into the bathroom as short as possible due to the smell.

Overall, on a trip to Beijing you do not really spend a lot of time in your room, so for a base to go exploring, this place is fantastic. There is also an excellent restaurant across the road that is a lot cheaper than the hotel's buffet and has some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Cross the footbridge outside the hotel and turn left, it is a few stores down.
