Hotel was decent 3 star hotel, but with some problems. Not all personnel were friendly. Avoid buying postage stamps for post cards going overseas at hotel. They charged me more than 100% for post card stamps going overseas. I paid 10 yuan versus 4.60 yuan for each postcard going overseas. In fact, it was not just this hotel but others I have stayed in China where even the cost of postage stamps vary. Something the government must do about if it wants visitors to the Olympics. Found out later that some clients did not pay for internet services. Apparently, will take your money only if offered to pay which means workers probably put money in own pockets.
The breakfast was decent, but mostly for the Chinese taste. The room was a good sized one. Had a good view of the surrounding area from the 20th floor. However, if want to be near main tourist attractions of Beijing, I don't recommend this hotel until the city expands the subway system into this area. Taking taxis is an alternative, but will take you at least 40 minutes to an hour depending on time of day to get to places like the Forbidden City, the better downtown restaurants , main shopping areas. However, close to the Summer Palace. Did not always change linen which is great for those going green. However, always get new supply of towels and bottled water. Get a good range of tv channels for english viewers like cnn and cnbc.
