We went to Serve the People with high hope, as it had just been voted top 3 Thai restaurants in Beijing by the Magazine "The Beijinger".
I must say it was a very disappointing experience all the way through. Cold room (yes it was a cold day, heating in China is already down, windows were "sealed" with tape, one gas heater somewhere in the entrance area.
The food: I had a squid salad - like chewing gum, and a beef curry - ok taste, but I can do better at home. My wife had spring rolls - old grease I think, beef salad - was ok, but meet not tender. My son had chicken satay - they were not grilled but fried, same old fat.
If food would have been good, prices would have been acceptable, but it was far too expensive for the quality.
