Park Hyatt Beijing
Ranked #32 of 6,531 Hotels in Beijing
Certificate of Excellence

This hotel is an oasis of calm and relaxation in the bustling noisy capital. In terms of the hotel design and rooms it is among the best in the Park Hyatt fleet. Granted the price tag isn't cheap, but the Hyatt service is bar-none.

Location: Is not the best for tourists, as you have to cab it or take the subway. And this is probably the least likeable part of Beijing (cabs and crowded subways....and maybe the pollution!). Not far from XiuShui (aka Silk Market) and diplomatic area/Guo Mao. If you want an outside restaurant there are no good choices in the neighborhood.

Room: Amazing. Try to get a corner room as they are much bigger. The rainforest showers and japanese style bathtub (more like a jacuzi) is amazing. Ambient lighting with different scenes and a nice minimalist feel to it. Nespresso maker gives you quality coffee (a good sign for a hotel in my book). Amenities in the rooms are also high quality. Hallways are typically dark in the Park Hyatt style. Beds are very comfortable and the automatic blackout blinds help your sleep.

Facilities: It's another one of these go up 60 floors to the lobby and down 20 floors to your room. A bit weird. Gym and infinity pool have great views and just the right size. The pool is not amazing but good for laps.

F&B: The breakfast here is bar far among the best in Beijing. They even throw in some Beijing traditional yogurts. Views are awesome. Xiu is probably another good reason to stay here as it is one of the most popular bar/clubs in the city. Thursday nights are crowded with the popular ladies night. Summer time is great for outdoor seating on the deck.

Service: Very good. Concierge is helpful and overall the staff are very friendly which is sometimes hard to find in other hotels in China.

Summary: Overall great hotel for business or couples who just want to have a nice weekend or oasis escape in the city.

Room Tip: The west side may afford you a view of the Forbidden City and sunset on a clear day. Try to get a c...

My island and resort in a crowdy and noisy city. A place where you can retreat and fill up your energy. Xiu (located in the 6th floor) is the perfect place for the evening. Service is excellent, rooms designed in a Feng-shui style, fitness and pool are good. Partially spectacular views from the rooms, definetly from reception and restaurant located 63rd floor and above.

I used to go to the gym in the 6/F for more then 1 yr, but never got a chance to stay, so booked for one night with hyatt point for a special occasion. The receptionist told me that this is the tallest hotels in Beijing, since the hotel is located just in the Chang An Ave, where there is a 250m tall regulation to the buildings there.

The room is spacious, and full of technologies and local culture. The luggage delivery guy told me while introducing every piece of my room, that "we serve evian as complimentary water to show our high standard".

Centrally located in the CBD, it's a wonderful place for business and also upscale shopping.

Staff speaks good English.
Live music was good. Great Cocktails- would recommend Mojito.
The bar is great, as well as the balcony where you can enjoy drinks / food.

Stay here for 2 days for business. Upon checking in, I am impressed by the layout of the room. The open shower and bath tub concept and overall lighting simply makes me feel comfortable the moment I stepped in. The metro is just below the hotel and you can go to anywhere easily if you do not want to take the taxi. Silk street is also within walking distance.

The front desk is on the 66 floor and breakfast is on the 69. Glass roof and a Panaromic view of the city if you get lucky.

I stayed for a week in the Park Hyatt, so I was able to get a comprehensive feel for the place. Overall, very good. It operates at an international standard - which is a big deal in Beijing. Sometimes in Beijing you have to lower your service standards to maintain your sanity, thankfully you don't do that at the Park Hyatt. It is quite a bit pricier than similar options in Beijing, but delivers what you would expect at that price and a little more.

The good:
- Room was very nice: designed tastefully and had great amenities. Blackout curtains, no noise leakage from other rooms and a very comfortable bed meant a restful sleep every night.

- Service was friendly and available. Staff would do their best to make sure you were happy. Sometimes it took quite a while to deliver on your requests, but by and large I felt like I was looked after very well.

- Gym & pool facilities were excellent. The pool was particularly memorable: great views of the city while you're swimming, and you can relax in one of the jacuzzis afterwards. I think the hotel locker room showers were better than the ones in the hotel rooms.

The bad:
- Difficult to get a taxi here. In general, Beijing is a terrible place for taxi transportation, but the slightly hidden nature of the hotel entrance made it very difficult to get a taxi. Don't bother asking hotel staff, just go on the main road and hail your own.

- Restaurant (China Grill) was very average. The food was fine - breakfast is very underwhelming with limited options and dinner was adequate. Not bad, but not great. If the prices were lower then I suppose my expectations would follow suit, but for the price, China Grill wasn't worth it. Same goes for the bar (China Bar). Slow service, slightly above-average drinks for very above-average prices.

This was my second stay at this Park Hyatt, it is on par with its counterparts in Western countries. My one gripe is the small fitness center can be crowded in the morning, so arrive early. The hotel is now a few years old and some minor signs of age are evident in the rooms such as wear on the the doors, wall and floors. But the excellent service and top quality design of the hotel make up for these minor imperfections.
