I dine here every time I am in Beijing and have been coming for 6 years.

The food is incredible, the Peking duck superb and the best I have tasted. Added to that a very stylish restaurant as expected of a Grand Hyatt restaurant. Staff superb. To add to this it csts a fraction of what the same meal would cost in London or New York.

Behind Da Dong and Duck de Chine, this is the #3 spot in the city... although #1 from a price perspective. Located inside the opulent Grand Hyatt, you'll soon see why the price is so elevated. Impressive place to take a business dinner with clients you wish to impress, otherwise the quality of the duck is parity to the other 2 spots.

Ate there a couple of weeks ago with a friend. We got in at the last minute so was seated near their kitchen. Not awesome but it was alright. We had their Peking duck and I left wondering what was so great about it. I'm Malaysian Chinese and have really ate better ducks back home. The pancakes were ok, sauce ok but perhaps the seasoning of the duck was not hitting it's mark. Service was actually quite good, attentive waiter and I wasn't dressed up. Fantastic ambience and a really nice hotel as well. Would I go back? No.

In my research I found Made in China to be the most widely recommended restaurant for Peking Duck, the signature dish of Beijing. It is located in the opulent Grand Hyatt Hotel, but is one of the hotel’s more casual restaurants. I highly suggest making a reservation through their website, and make sure to order your duck (a half duck is available) in advance. Within Made in China you can see the ducks roasting and dumplings being made by hand in their open kitchens. The duck is carved tableside and served with thin pancakes, julienned vegetables and various condiments, it is absolutely incredible. Many people also enjoy sprinkling sugar on the crispy duck skin, which is served with the duck as well. I also recommend their pan fried dumplings which are bound together with a unique lace-like crust that you crack apart with your chopsticks. Another tasty dish is the deep fried Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish, which they also carve tableside. Made in China is a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Good food in a nice atmosphere. I would recommend ordering in advance if you want the peking duck or the beggar's chicken. (fun to crack open) It's a nice place especially if you're staying at the Grand Hyatt - just pop downstairs!

Definitely get a reservation!
