The staff were friendly, helpful and had time for you for any assistance. The food hotel was very good and the buffet system had a variety of ranges catering for non-veg and veg people.
We went on a safari tour to Amboselli via the hotel arrangements, the safari was not only superb, the arrangements of the tour ranging from the pick-up/return point to the hotel, food, staff, accomodation was outstanding and the safari guide was very knowledgeable both in animals seeking them while on safari and accomdating to our requirements. I cannot wait to return back.

Room Tip: Sorry, I accidently gave rating for Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre these are not at the hotel.

Castle Royall is a very old historical meeting point Hotel in town.
The Highest rating it can get is upto 2 Star.
Although an discount is extended to me as a good repeat customer a find i it still rates are on high for the quality of the basic room offers to its customers..
Watch out sometimes the Hotwater system works and the same to applies for the Air Conditioning.are in a working order.
Its a very Nosiy lobby cause of the main Moi Avenue and the trafficyou can sit there in the bustling town hotel and see the world go by.
Ok for Conferences for a nigjht or 2..Staff are friendly but unattentive.
Castle hotel urgently needs refurbishment in all their rooms.Beds,Bathrooms,Bathtub ,Hotwater system and Airconditioning..
One can hardly see any management presence orsupervision around.the hotel pub;ic area...

Room Tip: Choose rooms on upper floors to avoid the nois of the Bustling Traffic of TUC TUC and the Matatus no...

It is conveniently located. Rooms are OK and the hotel appears rather safe. A bit pricy for the quality, but you are in the city center and in a "historical" place. I kind of enjoyed it for its colonial flavor.
If you exit the hotel to your right and walk in this direction, you'll get to banks with ATMs to get cash.
There is a Barclays (with ATM inside a private room) past the main crossing.
Further down the road, you'll get to the fort.
If you exit to your left, 200m away there is the reliable Natural World Safari, opposite the finance building.
There is wireless (fee per 24h), only downstairs next to the bar.
In the rooms, there is a plug to connect to internet (no wireless, same fee, and it is quite fast).
Otherwise, buy a modem key from Safaricom (10$) or Orange (12$). Safari is faster. Then a scratch card. If you don't download Gbytes, it is more than enough, and you can connect anywhere.

Room Tip: higher floors are quieter, ask to be away from the street

The hotel is centrally located and has just adequate accommodation. A/C, hot water and telephone don't work most of the time. Internet, despite paying for 24 hrs, works only couple of hours. And there is always an excuse why. Our money was stolen from the room safe. Auditing by the hotel revealed a cleaner had visited our room when we were out for dinner! The safe code system works but the safe is so dodgy you can see screws and mechanism in the front. Obviously the cleaner knew how to manipulate this or had the manager's code. Not worth paying KES 6,600 for poor accommodation.

Room Tip: You can get better value at other hotels. Avoid by all means.

This is probably the best in Central Mombasa, but that is not saying much. Price should be lower. The lobby is very busy, as are the staff and it is quite noisy. The first room I had was run down and the A/C didn't work. The front desk clerk told me there were no other rooms available which I knew was untrue. After a failed effort to fix the A/C, they gave me a new room which was much better. Breakfast is better than other Kenyan hotels. Staff was great, particularly when I had a medical issue and one of them came with me to see a doctor. Much appreciated.

The hotel is in the CBD. While this is convenient for conducting business in town, sleep is quite elusive because the rooms are right above a busy street. Thus one can kiss sleep good-bye from 5am.
Power is not constant thus services like A/C are erratic, sometimes gone for long periods - not good in Mombasa weather. Most rooms are stuffy & found mites on my bed.
In short, facilities need to change for this hotel to meet minimum standards.

Room Tip: Insist on a room away from the road.

This hotel is not worth your money - unless you're looking for a filthy room with mold on the walls and ceiling, no hot water whatsoever (they said there was a technical problem but after reading the other reviews, I am pretty sure they just don't have any hot water - ever!). The sheets are not clean, breakfast is terrible and food in the restaurant not good either. Service is incredibly slow (we waited 45 mins for our food to arrive), exchange rate for dollars the worst we encountered in Kenya, and on top of it all: there is clearly a prostitution network going on in the evening and night times, with young girls going up and down to rooms with elderly men. Staff is friendly, but nothing extraordinary. Just not a good hotel at all, and it's best to go elsewhere.

Room Tip: No rooms seem to be having hot water. Plus, rooms are not very clean, so check before taking the roo...
