Mid February 2013 I had a honeymooners booking (Claude & Francine) and they were full of praises of Voyager which I had recommended.

April 21st, decided it was my turn to fully sample the services and with my 2 little girls, we loved the entire experience from the reception, meals, accommodation and the hotel tour by Margaret. Keep it up and I hope to keep sending more clients.

Regards, Ruth

Room Tip: Very ideal for families too.

This really feels like the resort from the movie Dirty Dancing, complete with goofy themes and constant 'fun' activities. This place was perfect for a week-long 80 person workshop since it is reasonably comfortable and we were all in the same space. I would definitely not want to stay here on my own vacation, as it is a little too gimmicky for me, and I like a bit more choice and flexibility.

A few things to note:
--None of the rooms have internet, the only place to access it is the lobby bar
--my room was a bit musty and the beds rock hard (better than the alternative). The room never gets very dark given the outside lighting and the glow from the air conditioner light.
-- 2 of the pools close at 6, and the last closes at 8 pm, additionally the salon and massage areas are not open past 5, this limited evening activities.
--there is no gym
--the food isn't outstanding, but it is good enough, and there are lots of choices, which is nice when you spend a week at an all inclusive place
--there isn't much of an actual beach, it disappears during the high tide and at low tide you get accosted by guys trying to sell you crafts. The pools are nice though.

We have just returned from our 7th trip to the Voyager Beach, and it still remains our home in Kenya.
From the moment we arrive the staff are wonderful, from Olivia on the front desk, Daisy at customer relations to Margret at the pool who will supply you with more drinks than you could ever possible need.
Yes the rooms are a little dated but do you go on holiday to spend time in your room?
The animation team work very hard day and night to keep you happy and entertained but they are also happy to spend time talking about Kenya and getting to know the guests a special mention to Kelvin, Martin and Susan.
During our stay at the voyager we booked an evening on the Tamarind dhow which was a fabulous night with wonderful food.
We have all ways used JT (Julius Tact) for any trips or safaris and he has always proved to be a wonderful man with fabulous customer service.
This hotel has everything you could want from a tranquil pool to relax or a fun pool with daily activities and to go with this wonderful staff.
Also if you are lucky and get invited to the captions table this is a very special night with first class food.

Arrived at Voyager 01/04/2013 for 14 nights. Stayed here last year in May and fell in love with the hotel and its staff. Its a beautiful hotel, with lovely gardens looked after by John, Katana and their colleagues, Katana will get you a fresh coconut if you ask him (boy its scary watching him climb those big palm trees with just a bit of rope round his ankles). There are a few ponds scattered around the hotel, the best to the right of reception, which is looked after by Paul who will explain how he has built it up over the last few years. We would sit watching the male Weaver birds build their nests and try to attract the females, and also Paul would give you bread to feed the fish. The main restaurant is good, you can sit outside or if you wish inside. The food is good plenty of variety to suit everyone at breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are 5 bars the main bar being Kaskzi, where you can have snacks in the afternoon. The staff at the bars are great, Edward always smiling and joking around, Peter Raymond, Stella, John, Tatu, James, Rodgers, margaret, johana, Nassim, Cecilia and many more. Captain Sylvestre and his fellow officers are always walking around, stopping to chat with the guests to make sure everyone is having a wonderful time. Margaret customer relations officer is always on hand to help and just listen to any suggestions.

The rooms are cleaned every day, we had a sea view room looked after by Jackson, top man. One day the staff came looking for us because we had left the room safe open, nothing was missing. In previous reviews people have complained about thefts from their rooms, i don't dispute this (theres bad uns all over the world) but would be surprised if a member of staff would put his job on the line for a few bob. The rooms are not 5* but adequate, but hey they are only to shower and sleep in, and don't forget this is Africa not London.

The afternoon and evening entertainment brilliant. The Animation Team who put on various afternoon games and shows in the evening, do a fantastic job of keeping the guests, young and old entertained. Anderson, Nelson, Kelvin, Suzanne, Sharon, Bryan, Maureen and all the other A Team members (sorry can't remember all their names) will take time to chat and get to know you.

We did a one night safari to Shimba Hills which i will review separately. Our main reason to visit again apart from the hotel was to visit Mikoroshoni Primary school, the school is run by 3 british couples. The school is in Shanzu village, Bamburi, a very poor village, but the children love to go to school and learn. Further information can be found at www.mikoroshoniprimaryschool.org.uk. There are many schools in the area and are well worth a visit. They need all kinds of stationary, clothing, toothbrushes and paste, anything really.

I will stop rambling on, times are hard for everyone and a holiday to Kenya is not cheap, but if you can afford to go then there is no place on earth like it. The People are so genuine, friendly just great.

To Voyager and its staff I salute you and see you next year.

I visited Voyager Beach Resort in Mombasa in early May this year with my family and friends. It's meant to be a rainy season and indeed it was raining a lot. But we had a great time. The music, the food and the entertainment was great. The staff are a true picture of African hospitality and they made our stay pleasant, comfortable and memorable. There are three swimming pools and food was served from so many points at all times of the day. Nothing was spared to make our stay memorable. I will definitely be back with a bigger group. The value for money is enormous!

Room Tip: Ask for a delux not standard.
