Hotel staff are amazing and make you feel so welcome! Jambo jambo to all the staff there. Hassan the food and drinks new manager is a real asset to the hotel and will go out of his way to ensure that everyhting is ok, if there is nothing you like to eat on the buffet then let him know, he will cook something really yummy. Mercy and betty the front of house at the restaurants are amazing and have great personalities. All the waiters ensure that you are hydrated whilst around the pool area and not to forget to mention the pool staff and entertainment staff who make the holiday to remember. The entertainment staff came with us to halla park and we had a ball! (This was not part of their itinerary).
There was a small fire which was mentioned on another review this was dealt with exceptionally well and very quickly, within 10 minutes you would never have known that there was a fire.
Beach boys - well at first they seem daunting but when you chat with them they are lovely and just trying to make a living. Just say no thank you and dont make promises as they remember your name and what you promised.
We booked our trips through sam from tropicalcatstours, which was really well priced and cheaper than thomsons/first choice. Sam is on trip advisor and on the internet and you can connect him before leaving to get a price, which wouldbe good for budgeting.
Stacy the thomsons/first choice rep was fab and full of knowledge and very bubbly.
I travelled with my elderly mum and she now wants to go back to visit and would be happy and feel safe to go on her own, she is already looking into returning alone.
Overall we rate this hotel and location as a top destination.

Room Tip: Any seaview

This hotel is a 3* plus added extras! The staff were amazin and couldnt do enough for you! Really friendly and we were made to feel like family! Betty and mercie the restaurant hosts have super personalities and are always there to help. Karibu grill is a must to visit and for the fussy eaters nothing is to much trouble. Hassan the new food and drinks manager is so pleasant and very helpful. I really cannot put into words how amazing all the staff were. To mention names would really take so long.
The rooms are basic but very clean and towels are changed daily. Safety box was 14 pounds a weeks but for peace of mind worth it and I havent been to a hotel yet where they don't charge.
Beach boys can be a bit daunting at first but when u start talking with them they r very helpful and nice to talk to. #tip get one of the beach boys to walk with u on ur first walk on the beach this will keep other beach boys away from hassling you. Our favorite was matano, but everyone had there fav.
Safari and trips to mombasa are a must -we booked through smile tours, before you go you can get in touch with them samusyoki@yahoo.com. sam is very cheap we paid 345 for several trips including 3 day safari, 1 day dolphin safari at wasini island and trips to mombasa, halla park and a school. Halla park is 5 minutes away and a must visit to feed the giraffe's and see the hippos and crocs being fed.
Our holiday was the best holiday ever and this was made by the hotel staff and the closeness of all people staying at the hotel everybody is freindly here.
Stacey the first choice rep is very bubbly and will give u so much information on the area. We organised a meal at karibu grill on our last night an stacey and hassan joined us which was a very touching and it made a perfect ending to a perfect holiday. Then all the staff sang and did a little dance for my birthday. Couldnt have asked for more. Thank you bamburi beach for an amazing holiday, I will treasure my memories forever.

I went to Mombasa and stayed here from the 26th of may to the 2nd of june and loved it.I had read some not so good reviews on here before arriving but ignore them because although this hotel may not be 5 star I enjoyed it a lot the staff are the kindest people you`ll ever meet and its a great place to stay.i,'m 15 and therefore thought there would'nt be much do but I was pleasently surprised , my dad and brother went scuba diving and we also had one day out to Haller park and although it's not massive it was still great and we fed the giraffes which was amazing Stacey was our Thomson rep and she was lovely , another person I have to mention is mercy ,she is in charge of he dining hall and was so funny and friendly if your thinking of staying here its highly reccomended by me ,big thumbs up :)

Room Tip: Apparently the rooms on the right side (fishermans cave side) are bigger and slightly newer

Just back from a week's stay at Bamburi Beach Hotel and have very mixed feelings about the place.

The good.
The staff are very friendly and helpful
The food is OK
The whole place is clean
Service is very good

The not so good.
The check out time is a very early 10 am
Safety
The place is a serious accident waiting to happen
There was a small explosion and fire in the restaurant and one of the hotel staff was burned and taken to hospital. If anyone had been getting food at the time they also would have ben burned
Drinks are served in glasses at and around the pool bar. On several occasions glasses were broken so that anyone could have found themselves walking on broken glass. Some must have gone into the pool
The "All inclusive" deal is really a "Not so ALL inclusive", it is almost comic that while you can get endless glasses of wine, gin and tonics, rum and coke's etc, you have to BUY water and ice creams. Although you are able to have a water bottle re-filled at the bars it just seems like madness to make such a silly saving when they might as well put a little extra on the cost of the holiday and be properly "All inclusive"

All in all had a great time in Kenya and met some wonderful people at the hotel but I would never take children as I would be too concerned for their safety

It is a shame that the wonderful staff are let down by dangerous working conditions for them and the guests, I sincerely hope that they improve this very soon and fulfill the wonderful potential of such a well placed and friendly hotel

Room Tip: Sea view rooms have a great view but are not suitable for anyone who wants an early night as the noi...

I spent 4 nights there it was not bad, the place is old but clean, rooms are basic but clean and tidy, the Beach dock is nice the sand beach is nice but you can’t sun bathe there as there are a lot of salesmen hanging around , swimming pool is too small.
Food is plenty in quantity and variety but nothing special.
I was there in business and I feel out of place as most of guests were retired people enjoying the sun and water.
I would say it is an average Hotel, one thing I did not understand why should I Pay $ 18 for the small safe at my room?!!

We stayed for a week at the Bamburi Beach on the 11th May. We had a great experience, very friendly and helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. We had a sea view room which was great! There was a variety of food, with a grill restaurant included as part of the price and we had 20% off the Fishmonger's Cave which was nice for a change and good value. We went on safari with JT Safaris during our stay and couldn't recommend them highly enough! All in all a great place to stay especially for a first time visit to Kenya.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room on a high floor for the best views.
