The service here is lousy. The food is really good, but what use is that when it takes ages to get to your table?

We headed here for dinner after reading about it in the rough guide to Kenya and were disappointed. There are only 2 meals for vegetarians - a vegetable curry or a vegetable chapatti. We opted for the chapatti and it turned out to be bland and oily. The other dish we had was the roast chicken with naan. The naan was excellent, and we could see them being made infront of us. The roast chicken was fine, but nothing to write home about.

The ambience was pretty flat, despite being located on a busy street, but maybe it becomes vibrant if you eat after prayers, not during. Service was great, prompt and friendly.

The meal was fine but we feel like there were probably more interesting places to eat in Mombasa, and places that are better for veggies too!

For delicious Swahili cuisine, cooked to order this is THE place to go. All the food I've eaten here is delicious, well spiced and tasty. The waiters are attentive and service is great. Be warned, this is a local eatery, and the locals swarm here to eat at lunch time, so if you can, avoid lunch time, and eat later in the afternoon. I've had consistently fresh delicious food here, and always return when I'm in Mombasa - best dish for me is the Chicken Biriani, tasty and plenty of it! Fully recommended!

The food is good, swahili coastal fare, tasty too. But, the interior has got a lot of houseflies which don't let one eat in peace! Plus, it can get quite hot in there - improper cross ventilation and lack of enough fans contribute to that. Outside under the shade cover is no better either, as it gets very hot especially at lunchtime! Service is average.
