“Can't get better staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

This place is fantastic! After a stressful safari this place felt like heaven. The staff are great. The food is very good. The monkeys keep you entertained the shows were funny. 1999 out of 10!!!!!!
The only issue is that they should try and get the beach in front of the hotel made private. The beach boys are bullies and can be a bit of a problem. Can't the price in half and half again , then you may get a ok price. The stuff they sell isn't hand made. It's massed produced properly in china as every one has exactly the same things shape and size.
But any how this doesn't take away from the fact that the hotel were great right from the moment you arrive you get a nice cold drink put In your hand.
Would like to thank every staff member their and hope they get paid well for the great services they delver.

We returned yesterday from a 2 week stay at the Baobab with a break for 4 days in the middle for our safari. The trip was fantastic and we really can’t fault the hotel at all. The grounds, room, staff, service, pools etc were brilliant. Everyone was really friendly and would do anything to make your day as relaxing as possible. We stayed in a deluxe room in the Maridadi wing of the resort which was spacious and clean with a balcony overlooking the pool and stocked up daily with fresh water. The bathroom was huge with his and hers sinks and a walk in shower.
Having read a few reviews before we left I was a little concerned about what vegetarian food there would be, however I needn’t have worried, there was more that I could choose from every day and something different for each of the days that we were there. Each evening there was a show ranging from Mama Mia to African dancers and acrobats. During the day there was a full programme of activities to get involved with including archery and aerobics. On a Wednesday the Masai people come to the hotel to hold a market selling their local crafts etc which is a nice way to do your souvenir shopping.
There are shops on site, a beauty spa and a taxi service in case you want to go anywhere and to save having to barter with the local taxis. The beach is lovely and once you overcome the initial annoying beach sellers you can slip past them and take a nice walk along or go swimming, snorkelling etc. Our advice would just be to be a little firm and say that you aren’t interested in what they have to sell other than get into any conversation as they won’t hesitate to walk half way along the beach with you otherwise!
We booked our safari independently through JT safaris after reading his excellent reviews on here and we would thoroughly recommend him. His staff picked us up on our second day to take us a short 5 minute drive to their office to have a short briefing about our trip and after the trip Julius himself came to the hotel to collect our balance payment and give us some carvings as gifts. George was our driver, he was excellent and went out of his way to make sure we saw what we wanted to and talked to us at the start of the trip to check what our priorities were. We chose 3 excellent lodges from a list provided by JT at the 3 parks. We chose Satao Camp, Ol Tukai Lodge and Saltlick Sarova. The Saltlick experience was above all the absolute best, we’d have stayed there all week if we could have! The service, quality, food and cleanliness at all of the lodges was the same as at Baobab, there was never a low point. So many wonderful experiences and memories. We wholeheartedly recommend you visit and use JT to book your safari.

We went to the Baobab in August and had already booked a Ndogo safari through Thomson with our holiday booking. Everything went smoothly from Gatwick to the hotel and the buses from Pollmans were well organised. We were greeted at the hotel with cold flannels and juice which was definitely needed after the trip from the airport and going over the ferry - it was a real eye opener.

Our room was 605 in the bungalows and it was beautiful situated in the gardens. We had no annoyance from the monkeys and baboons either. However, they were funny to watch around the hotel, especially at snack times. If you don't leave food lying around or give them food they are fine. We spent 2 days in the hotel before going on Safari and I would recommend doing the hotel tour because it is big and has 3 different hotels - Maridadi, Baobab and Kole Kole. After the tour and a walk around we knew where everything was. If you want a quiet holiday go to the Maridadi pool because there is no music or entertainment staff. We spent all of our time in the Kole Kole as the pool was a gorgeous infinity pool. There was a bit of music and activities to join in with.

Day 3 was the first day of safari. We went to Tsavo east and west and Taita Hills. This was one of the best experiences we have done. All of the national reserves are different in their own way. I won't spoil it by telling you. Pollmans organised the vans and drivers. We had Shafique who was Superb and very knowledgeable. My favourite lodge was in Taita Hills. We saw lots of animals on safari - 4 out of the big 5, no Rhino. But that is just an excuse to go back again.

Day 6 we arrived back at the hotel. It rained for 2 days but it didn't matter because there was still lots of things to do and the staff are so friendly. Luke and Victor were brilliant in the Baobab restaurant and would always remember you when walking pass. James and Reuben by the Kole Kole pool were lovely and Dennis at the bar in Kole Kole would come and chat to us everyday. They taught us some Swahili and we tried to use it when we could. They all made our holiday extra special.

We did some other trips during our stay. The first one was 'Real Africa' we went to a village in Mtwapa and went to a school, learnt how to make ugali and to dance, saw some dances and went to a physically handicap workshop where they all used their skills to make different bits.
The second trip was to a Children's Home in Diani Beach. We just got a taxi from reception and it cost 1000ks return. We took some pens and paper, suncream, shower get etc. I would definitely recommend going. The children were so content and their house mother Faith showed us around and we had chance to play with the children.

I just read somebody recommending to throw sweets out of the bus. PLEASE DO NOT. Children will run under buses to get them, it cause many accidents and you are ruining their health. They don't have tooth brushes to look after their teeth. The village we went to was self-sufficient, they eat all natural resources and their teeth look fine. There is no need to tourists to spoil their lifestyle!!!!

I hope you have an amazing time like we did.

We went for our honeymoon as was the best holiday ever. We came back an the next day enquired about booking to go next year. The hotel was superb, we was upgraded to a bungalow which was clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and couldnt do enough for you especially the entertainment staff. The entertainment staff put on shows each night which were brilliant especially the acrobats. The food was lovely plenty of choice especially for fussy eaters. When the reataurant is closed they serve snacks and there is a snack bar that serves pizzas, chips, burgers etc. The monkeys at the hotel keeps you entertained especially when food is around. Theres something for everyone if you like to get involved in the games thats at one pool and if you just like to relax there is a quiet pool. We would reccommend this hotel to anyone.

Holiday of a life time. Hotel is magnificent and their hospitality is over whelming. Food was excellent and I would highly recommend it. I certainly will return. Nothing was too much trouble for the beautiful people of Kenya. They work so very hard and yet they always greet you with a very warming smile and courtesy. Entertainment was fabulous. Altogether it excelled in all areas and totally exceeded our expectations.
A special hello to Mohammad, Luke and Victor, who served us daily.

This was my 3rd trip to Kenya and the best hotel and service I have found.
The hotel, pool and gardens are superb and so clean and the view from the rooms, we stayed in rooms 129/130, are magnificent. The food was excellent and as a family of 4 we always found plenty of choice and the restaurant team provided superb service with Luke and Said a credit to the hotel.
The entertainment was great around the main pool and the drinks were fine with the bar staff keeping your glasses well topped up.
The only areas I would suggest could be improved upon is the bathrooms which perhaps need updating and the Wi Fi charges weren't cheap.
The beach is out if this world and very quiet and don't worry about the beach boys they are harmless.
For value for money, service and great food book The Baobab, you'll have a great holiday.

Room Tip: Pick a Baobab superior bungalow!
