Review of Bamburi Beach

Bamburi Beach
Ranked #6 of 61 things to do in Mombasa
Attraction details
Reviewed February 23, 2013

It was good, really close to bars and restaurants (Yul's ice cream is to die for!), there are camel rides and speedboats to hire. The beach boys are a bit annoying, they ask a lot of questions, just say "No." If you say "no THANK YOU" they still think they can sell you stuff.

Thank Sarah M

This beach is really nice if there was a way to ban the beach boys and girls. The water is clean and the beach is pretty much well maintained. You can buy souvenirs from local merchants on the beach, pop in for a nice cold drink or something to snack on at one of the many hotels on the beach. But since most of the European guest come because of the sex business, you either have to deal with the pestering of the sex workers or pay the price and go where the Americans prefer to stay, places like Serena Beach Hotel or Sarvoa Whitesands Beach.

It is mostly very crowded, which may be fine if it was kept clean. However, there's usually rubbish and lots of accumulated seaweed everywhere.

Yeah, it can get a little crazy sometimes. If you don't know how to handle the "beach boys" and hookers, you're gonna have a bad time.

But watching a bus full of school kids from in-land see the ocean for the first time is a magical thing, and happens about fifty times a day.
