Owner description: The Mara is a beautiful but sensitive environment that can survive only if properly respected. Well-watered by the Mara River, enjoying abundant vegetation, wildlife and rainfall, its ecology would appear, at first sight, to be relatively resilient. It also appears to have withstood the erosive effects of huge numbers of visiting tourists extraordinarily well. There are signs, however, that the delicate balance between tourist numbers and wildlife populations cannot be properly maintained for much longer as evidenced by the reduction in the protective vegetation cover and the emergence of a series of dust bowls. Meanwhile, the Reserve is host to 95 species of mammals, amphibians and other reptiles and 485 species of birds. During the dry season (July to October) it also hosts a major concentration of migratory herbivores including about 250,000 zebra and 1.3 million wildebeest. Amongst the list of easy-to-view species are: gazelle, elephant, topi, buffalo, lion (Kenya's largest population), black rhino, hippo, hyena, giraffe, leopard and mongoose.

Wonderful nature, wildlife and best holiday destination. Tented accommodation was a great experience without WiFi and power being available only for few hours in morning & evening.

As part of our 21 day safari we went from Lake Nakuru National Park, where we stayed at the Serena Elmenteita Luxury Camp and continuing our journey through the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve, where the wide horizons, rolling grassland Savannah, flat topped acacia trees and abundant wildlife conform to many people’s idea of ‘Classic Africa’. Morning and afternoon game drives in search of the “big five” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard). The ultimate attraction is the annual migration of great herds of wildebeest followed by predators in July/August/September. Millions move north from Tanzania’s Serengeti Plains, crossing the Mara River seeking lusher pastures before turning south again in October. We were lucky enough to see the late start of the migration across the Mara River. The hundreds of thousands of wildebeest are an amazing sight. Some of our group took the optional balloon ride, expensive but well worth the expense.

i was on a business trip with exceptionally interesting people at the maasai mara out to have an encounter with the 8th wonder of the world, the wildebeests migration from the Serengeti into the maasai mara national reserve. At the Maara river bridge, border between the transmaara and Narok sections of the reserve, we had an encounter with the stench of death, thousands of wilderbeast carcases crammed against each other after they failed to successfully cross into the other side. various valture species gathered for a "bash" sometimes fighting over already opened carcases. A true demonstration of only the fit capable of holding onto life.

So many wonderful animal sightings. We stayed on another conservancy but ventured here a few times. Seeing the crossing was a highlight of the trip!

We had a wonderful safari trip to Masai Mara which war organized by JT Safaris. The camp Ashnill we lived in was located on Mara river and there was a splendid view on surroundings. The service was excellent.
The game drives were very successful as we have seen a lot of animals, the big 5.
I would definitely come back once I had a chance to repeat the best vacation experience ever.
