“Unbelievably diverse wildlife”
5 of 5 bubbles Review of Mara Triangle

Owner description: The Mara is a beautiful but sensitive environment that can survive only if properly respected. Well-watered by the Mara River, enjoying abundant vegetation, wildlife and rainfall, its ecology would appear, at first sight, to be relatively resilient. It also appears to have withstood the erosive effects of huge numbers of visiting tourists extraordinarily well. There are signs, however, that the delicate balance between tourist numbers and wildlife populations cannot be properly maintained for much longer as evidenced by the reduction in the protective vegetation cover and the emergence of a series of dust bowls. Meanwhile, the Reserve is host to 95 species of mammals, amphibians and other reptiles and 485 species of birds. During the dry season (July to October) it also hosts a major concentration of migratory herbivores including about 250,000 zebra and 1.3 million wildebeest. Amongst the list of easy-to-view species are: gazelle, elephant, topi, buffalo, lion (Kenya's largest population), black rhino, hippo, hyena, giraffe, leopard and mongoose.

“Unbelievably diverse wildlife”

We were there for four nights during the wet season (end of April) and saw the 'Big 5' and countless other incredible animals several times over and extremely close up, including seeing five different leopards. Amazing!

“Love the Mara Triangle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Never seen so many Lion & Cheetah up close even with Kills, its a rough trip to get there but you soon forget that with the peace of the Mara and the amazing animals you see. Its a shame its so expensive putting it out of reach for many.

“Large Herds of Elephants”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

Wow. Visited the triangle and Bateleur last year. We saw hundreds of elephants on our game drives. Also enjoyed the balloon safari over the triangle. The climax was the river crossings we were lucky to catch.

“A huge reserve...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

What is the saying? "You can't swing a cat without hitting XX.." Well in the case of the Masai Mara, you won't want to be swinging any of those cats, but you will be overwhelmed with the density of game. Elephants, lions, topi, eland, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, hartebeests, etc.. However it is very large and so depending on your lodge and your driver you may just touch the surface. Others on our tour saw cheetahs and leopards as well..

“Where the wild things roam”

This is an area the guides don't miss for viewing. It was a very good area. The roads were pretty good considering all the rain they have had
