We had the most perfect 25th wedding anniversary at Mara Explorer. It was the last 3 nights of our 13 night safari in both Tanzania & Kenya. Marianna and her staff treated us like royalty. The accommodation was beyond our expectations, the food superb and the game drives fantastic. Thanks to James we saw all the big 5 plus he is a fantastic astronomer. We would definitely go back there again.

The Explorer camp was excellent, had a hospitable staff and the game driver (James) was supberb in finding game. My departing thought taking off from Olkiombo airstrip was when I could come back.

I truly enjoyed my trip to the Masai Mara, with the Mara Explorer Camp being a strong feature in that beautiful picture.
The service provided, the people, the space, the tents, the tours, everything was exactly if not more than I expected! A camp build in nature, one with nature with the most sweet and welcoming people running it!
I loved it to bits and I am definitely going to try and go back.

The Explorer camp is amazing. It is a very short drive from the airstrip. The central / restaurant area is really beautiful and relaxing. You sit overlooking the river watching the hippos and the crocodiles while you have your 4 course lunch and dinner! The food qualilty was excellent - really much better than we had expected.

The tents were great - private and you really felt you were outdoors - but at the same time very few bugs in the tent (if any) and you feel perfectly safe - even though you can hear all sorts going on around you! The camp staff are very friendly and escort you to and from your tent once it is dark. Hot water bottles are there when you get back after dinner and you get your morning wake up call witha cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Hot water on tap at fixed times in the day plus on request - and it was proper hot running water.

We thought the jeeps were the best around - you meet people from all other camps and lodges when you are out and about and the explorer jeeps looked the best to me. They were comfortable and you could stand, sit, wrap yourself in a blanket (it can get chilly when on the move) or whatever. All the bars are padded so it is quite comfortable even if you get thrown about a little. Roads are bumpy unsurprisingly but it is all really good fun. We saw so many animals it was amazing - including leopards. The guides are very good and seem genuinely keen that you get a good viewing experience.

No pool or other facilities but in all honesty when you have been on the drives and have an hour or so down time here or there to just enjoy the scenery I really don't think you need any other distractions. If we had had a pool I don't think we would have felt the need or found the time to use it.

Would recommend Explorer to anyone.

It was one of the most amazing trips I have ever done in my lifetime! We saw all the animals except for Leopard and Rhinos. The inside of the tent is absolutely beautiful and not to mention taking a bath under the stars on the outside - with the hippos as onlookers!! The service from the staff was excellent and so friendly - the food - brilliant - my only complaint - we should have stayed another night!!!!

• I went for a 3 days quick trip for a Safari.
• The whole experience is great the place, weather, animals, Safari.
• Our guide was just excellent and we watch and pictured great scenes.
• The place itself is cosy and small so its ideal for couples looking for a nice natural vacation.
• Rooms are clean but remember you are living inside the jungle.
• Food is ok.
• People are just more than great.

My Partner and I stayed at the Mara Explora camp for three nights and we wish we had booked our entire two week holiday there. Paul, the Manager made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and this great service continued with and every member of the team at Mara Explora.

From the game drives, arranging Breakfast on the Planes of the Mara so we did not have to miss viewing time by coming back for breakfast ,Paul our Guide found every animal there was to see and even came out to collect us after the Air Balloon trip so we did not have to drive back to camp and then go out, Guest from nother camps were very envious.

Even the early starts do not seem that bad as you get woken up with Hot Chocolate and Buscuits and I could not wait to go to bed in the amazing tents where they even provide hotwater bottles. When you lie in bed it quite amazing to think about how you are sleeping in a tent in the middle of the mara and listening to the animals as they come alive at night. One night we heard a lion just out side our tent in the river... it was incredable.

The camp was in great condition and the food was fantastic, we are very fussy eaters and enjoyed many 3 course meals. In the evening we really enjoyed sitting round the fire enjoying a drink before dinner.

If you are concidering the Mara Explora I would highly recommend it, infact it is a must that you choose this camp...We are certainly going back.

Thank you to them all.
