“Naibor Wilderness Camp”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

We are still buzzing from our recent trip to Maasai Mara, the experience being all the better for the fantastic Naibor Camp. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, the staff could not have been anymore helpful or attentive. Managers Vicky and Adam are wonderful hosts, as was Julius who looked after us at the smaller Naibor Wilderness Camp, which we had to ourselves. Food was superb, we had the choice of our own private mess tent or we could join the larger group at main camp, which we did on 3 out of 5 nights. And not to forget Anne, the lovely masseus, who gave such wonderful massages.
As for the wildlife ........ it was abundant, we saw all of the big 5 including the elusive 'Black Rhino'. This was my first safari, but my partner Graham, has been on 3 seperate safaris at different camps, and he says that Naibor is by far the best. David our driver guide was suberb, and would ensure we got prime position for photo's etc. We would like to thank everyone at Naibor for making our safari so special. Carol and Graham, Windsor.

Room Tip: The were 3 parts to Naibor ....all were exceptional, we loved Wilderness ourselves.

Naibor camp truly is the place to stay when visiting the Masai Mara.

The tents are luxurious, clean and private. We were well looked after in our room by Moses, who made it his priority to ensure we felt comfortable. The food was excellent - the best we had during our whole two week honeymoon. One evening we were offered a private meal by the river next to our tent, where we were treated to one of the best steaks we have ever had (and we are steak lovers!)

Adam and Vicky were excellent hosts, very friendly and exceptionally welcoming. Drinks round the camp fire every evening were always enjoyable, as they made such an effort with all the guests. Our guide on Safari was very knowledgeable and to our delight we managed to see the big five! Visiting the hippos every day (the camp is located next to a hippo pod) and observing their behaviour was a real highlight! We had a fantastic time at Naibor and would thoroughly recommend it to other travellers.

This was our second stay in Naibor. The lodge is very well run by Adam and Vicky, although for our first three days Rosie was taking care of things. The location is perfect and the staff are all very attentive. Each tent has a guard at night and our guard, Moses, made sure that visiting hippos and buffalo didn't get up to any mischief. It was magical to be in bed and hear hippos, hyenas, elephants and lions.

Lola was our driver and he was the best driver we've ever had on safari. Not only did he know the area inside and out, but he also put the needs of the animals before humans. Well done Lola. Nobody wants to see the leopards distressed by loads of cars getting closer and closer to them.

Camp fires in the evening were sociable, as was the dining when we all shared a big table. On our last evening we enjoyed an excellent dinner by our tent. It was lovely to come back from our late afternoon safari to be greeted by our guard, the person who put the hot water into the bucket shower and a personal waiter. The table was set out beautifully and the food and service was perfect.

Small solar panels supply enough power for two bedside lights, but all electrical equipment can easily be charged in the office.

This is still my favourite camping lodge.

Our family went on a trip for 2 weeks in early July. We stayed at 5 different camps and I enjoyed Naibor the most, by far. First off, Adam and Vicki were fantastic hosts. We loved the food and the service was impeccable, from the hosts to the servers to the Masai guards. On top of it all, the game was superior to the other camps as well and we had a terrific guide who was able to get us an up close view to all the animals we wanted to see.

I highly recommend Naibor for your next venture to the Masai Mara!

For two people who had very little idea of what to expect from a tented safari - we were totally blown away. From the moment we were greeted from the runway to the moment we left we were catered for and looked after like we were family. Adam and Vicki who manage the camp are absolutely fabulous... not just because they are great story tellers and kept us in stitches each night around the camp fire - but they were also able to assist us with everything we needed and went above and beyond to help us organise our days perfectly.

The camp itself is set along a river bank and you get to see hippos every day which we loved. The tents are very luxurious but at the same time you dont loose the fact that you are on safari. Yes, you have an ensuite, with a normal loo and shower - but they have set it on wooden slats to help keep it authentic. The beds are big, the tent has loads of space so you can spread out and a large outdoor area where you can sit and watch the hippos. My favourite part is the communal area - where each night you get to sit around the camp fire for pre-cocktails and then head up to the main tent which has a huge wooden table that you can all sit around. The food is excellent, we were surprised at how in the middle of the Mara we were having a delicious 3 course meal every night with excellent wine... and an extensive cocktail list.

They were extremely accomodating in taking us out on drives - the drivers themselves were great fun too - Big Dave (David) was ours and he was ace.

Overall it was one of the best holidays we have ever had and much of it was to do with the wonderful staff, management, accomodation and of course surroundings. Big thanks to Adam and Vicki.

The location next to a river provides an original opportunity to watch hippos swim while you relax eating your freshly made meals or a cold dink. At night you can sit around the fire and meet the other guests and wonderful hosts Adam & Vicky. If you prefer a romantic dinner you have the option of having your dinner brought to you to have infront of your tent outside with the sounds of nature all around you.

The massage treatment I had was excellent and there is a small shop at the lodge with a good selection of locally made goods which make original presents or souveniers.

The guide we had was very knowledgable and managed to find us a leopard with a kill which was the most amazing sighting while he dragged the bush buck up the riverbed in full sight!

Room Tip: All the tents are well designed to give you a rustic but luxurious experience

My husband and I traveled with our 19 yr old daughter and 16 yr old son to the Masai Mara on the recommendation of friends. We were met at the airstrip by Matthew, who would be our guide for the next 5 days and then at Naibor Camp by our hosts, Adam and Vicki. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome and were amazed at the size and comfort of our tents. Our days fell into a pattern. Each morning we were woken at 6am with coffee and shortbread and then left camp in the jeep at 6.30am. We would be on safari for most of the morning, which included a stop for a bush breakfast. Lunch was back at the camp overlooking the Hippo pool. We had time in the afternoon for a nap or a massage before heading off on safari again at 4.30pm. My favourite time of the day was arriving back to the camp just after sunset, after a glorious day on the Masai Mara, where a shower of perfect temperature was waiting for us. Pre dinner drinks were always around the camp fire with the other guests and dinner was served in the mess tent. The food at camp was fantastic and the service impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to return again soon. We saw so much more on Safari than we had ever imagined and anything that gets our teenagers out of bed each morning at 6 am with no complaints is a winner in our book.
