If I could live here, I would. My husband and I had such an amazing experience at Governor Moran II. The staff, the food, the accommodations, everything was just spectacular. Also not to mention the small reason you came, the wildlife, I cannot even describe all the wonderful things we saw, everyday was something new and jaw dropping. Also I can't count how many times my expectations were just blown out of the water, we saw the big 5 and so much more!! Governor Moran II will do just about anything they can in their power to accommodate you and give you a memorable and wonderful stay, but the thing I appreciated the most is they follow the rules and respect the animals and that is hard to find!! They'll give you a holiday you won't ever forget! There are so many camps to choose from but this is one you won't regret your stay, we can't wait to come back!! While you can't expect to see the same stuff as someone else the stuff we had so many close calls, our guide would pull up with some distance and turn the car off and sometimes a lioness will just casually walk by your truck like nothing and just lay down behind it. Or you're driving around and you look up and there's a Leopard in a tree with her antelope she caught earlier. Make sure you book at least 4 days here, it will give you the opportunity to see a little bit of everything. I think our favorite part was picking our sunset drink at lunch and after our afternoon safari we would pull over somewhere beautiful, cheers with something refreshing and watch the animals scurrying around getting ready for nightlife on safari as the sunset in the background. Also be sure to check with the office and schedule a visit to the local Maasai Mara village, it's $30 per person but so worth the visit to see how they live and watch some of their traditions, we learned so much from them and you help to educate the Maasai children with that money.

Dear 881rachelp,

Many thanks for choosing Il Moran to experience the thrill of the Masai Mara. It truly is an amazingly diverse part of the world and one that should be on everyones bucket list!

Sundowners are indeed a very special time to reflect on ones day and appreciate how lucky we are.

Thank you once again and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Kind regards,

Alisa, Service Manager.

Other reviews say it all. Exceptional place, couldn’t have wished for anything more from any member of the team. The tents were amazing with special touches provided by the team like a hot water bottle in your bed at night and being woken up with coffee and home made biscuits to set you up until breakfast, regularly refilled fridge of beer, wine and soft drinks topped off by amazing food provided by Lillian and her team.
Phillipe was first class in the bar and knows how to pour his drinks, every team member deserves a special thanks for making our experience one of a life time.
Bucket list experience that was fulfilled in every way topped off by a balloon flight over the fabulous masi Maasai Mara reserve.

Now to the wildlife, never in our wildest dreams did we envisage the sights and variety of species we were able to see, phenomenal to see these up close and in their own environments. We will be forever grateful to Simon for sharing his knowledge of 30years plus in a few short days. He never tired of our questions and delivered on the big 5 wish list. He went over and above to ensure we were having the best experience possible. He will remain in our memories forever along with the the rest of the team.

Anyone thinking of doing this, spend the kids inheritance and go with them to create a lifetime of memories.

Outstanding experience from beginning to end.

Sadly, with TV and the internet, few things live up to the hype. Not where Il Moran is concerned. From the minute we arrived until the time we departed, we had the most wonderful experience. Our accommodation was sumptuous, the service exemplary and the food delicious.
Nothing was too much trouble; the early morning calls started with hot chocolate, brought to our tent; then off on the game drive and then back for breakfast. Each game drive brought something new and our guide went out of his way to show us what the Mara had to offer; a pride of lions; a hyena den with young; a topi giving birth; vultures feeding on a hippo carcass, etc. etc!
We cannot praise the Il Moran team highly enough. It is an experience that will live long in our memories. And we will miss those hippo sounds at night from the river close by or the sound of one trotting past our tent in the early hours.
We would love to go back sometime.

Il moran is set in a phenomenal location. The wildlife action is literally on your doorstep, from lounging hippos to visiting elephants passing through. The staff are incredibly attentive and caring, getting to know guests on an individual level. As we were on our honeymoon we were treated to a new surprise on our pillow each night, from a lovely welcome note to hippo carvings to local jewellery. The tents are beautiful, situated right on the river. Each tent has a huge bathroom and an individual terrace. For lunch and dinner guests can choose from a couple of options as well as off menu items. The staff are also able to accommodate catering to specific dietary requirements. Staff wise keep an eye out for Albert who was a wonderful host as well as Patrick!

Our experience at Governors il Moran camp was superb. The staff are fantastic and their attention to your well being, comfort and enjoyment is world class. The tents are much larger and more comfortable than other camps we have stayed at. 240volt mains electricity, lighting, and plenty of hot water 24x7. Proper separate bath, flushing toilet and a spacious shower all work well. Wi-fi worked remarkably well in our tents. The camp is open to the reserve and overlooks a river which is home to a large number of hippos, baboons, wart hogs. Escort guards keep you safe at night from roaming animals and accompany you at any time in darkness to/from the dining room, bar and terrace back to your tent. The sight and sounds of the local wildlife on your doorstep and their proximity is sensational. Nearby on the game drives we saw numerous herds of elephants, prides of lions, buffalo, wilder beast, giraffe, and even a cheetah. All were viewed at excitingly very close quarters. The guide drivers are great and know where best to search. A picnic breakfast on the morning drive is delightful. The staff are very attentive and well organised, providing lots of considerate personal touches. Lillian the chef came around the dining room in the morning with proposed menu choices for the evening meal, and even offered to prepare us something different If we wanted!
Well done Il Moran. You earn top Marks. We travel extensively, are particular, with some extra needs because my wife is partially sighted. We are rarely moved to leave a review on advisor..but Il Moran certainly deserve this one! Totally recommended.

Room tip: We think all the tents are similarly equipped and overlook the river. It is a boutique camp with just ten tents.
