The Mara Siria camp was the perfect base for a wonderful few days in the Mara. The location itself is stunning, with beautiful views from the escarpment across the plains and Mara river below. The sunrises were breathtaking. The camp itself was charming in every way - we loved the way the site had so little impact on the environment, being tucked away within the natural surroundings. We stayed in the standard tents (called Luxury by the camp) and they were perfect - very comfortable, clean and larger than we expected.

The staff were marvellous, always on hand, keen to help in any way and so friendly. The food was very good and plentiful....as was the red wine! The drives were amazing (thanks to our driver John) - in just two days we saw so much, in such a peaceful and stunning landscape. Thank you all (and Pheonix Safaris through whom we booked) so much!

From the outset, our safari organised through Phoenix Safaris in Nairobi, was special. The staff at the camp could not have been more friendly and helpful, the tents were comfortable and the bush shower each evening on return was hot and welcome. Our amazing guide, George, allowed us flexibility and privilege: he gave us the chance to see the big 5 in quantity (bar the leopard who remained elusive to the end!) but also the opportunity to see parts of the Park not so well travelled to witness other animals interacting, eating, relaxing and, of course, sleeping! Who would have thought 9 hours would pass with so much of interest to see. From bush breakfast to thunderstorms we had it all and saw so many different animals, birds and reptiles. Joel and his staff are to be congratulated on a very high standard at all times. But George with his thorough knowledge, professionalism and sense of fun was the family favourite!

The tents themselves were adequate and the food was pretty good but the views were pretty awesome. The camp is roughly 10 minutes from the park gate so it's a bit of a drive but Phoenix Safaris were great and George who was our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

We had a great time staying in the luxury tent at Mara Siria Camp, we were lucky enough to get a tent which was on a raised platform as well as a sink which had water coming out of the taps, I am very fussy when it comes to bathrooms and i can confidently say this place was great, the only downfall was that there was no running hot water to have a shower but the people working at the camp would bring 40 liters of hot water ( which i'd say was lukewarm!) but the main thing was we were able to shower! Another great thing about the camp site were the animals, we were lucky enough to see at least 4 -5 zebra's outside our tent, at first I was a little scared but we were reassured that the animals were not harmful. At night it got quite chilly but the camp site provides hot water bottles and extra blankets in the room which was great. The food at the camp was great we especially enjoyed the dinner, the breakfast also had a variety of fruits and other assorted foods. The most amazing part was walking back to our tent after dinner when it was pitch black...looking up at the sky and seeing a thousand stars...truly amazing!

We travelled from Muscat to Nairobi on 6 August 2013 and there was a fire at Nairobi airport on morning of 7 August . Our safari was planned by Iris from Phoneix. My family and me are extremly grateful to Iris for organizing our travel and safari and having a wonderful vacation. Iris was extremly helpful as our Qatar airways flight landed in Kiliminjaro due to the fire . Iris was continously working on options to bring us to Nairobi and take a flight from Wilson to Masai Mara. We landed in Masai Mara on 8 August 2013. Driver John from Phoneix did an excellent job showing us the wild life in Masai Mara. John is extremly knowledgable. We stayed at Phoneix Mara Siria Camp at the Top of a Hill which is an excellent facility and has great people who pay attention to details and looked after us very well. Rajat Khurana and Family

Room Tip: Stay 2 Nights in Masai Mara in order to have 4 game drives and go to Tanzania and Kenya which is a...

Staff is very friendly and makes considerable efforts to make stays enjoyable, while being sometimes disorganised.

Food was very good, every second day barbequed by a very charming cook. Open bonfire adds to a very nice camping athmosphere. Guests are frequently asked to share tables with other groups, since the dining place is too small to hold all guests. But staff were very friendly and accomodated our request to eat separately on our terrace.

Hot water is not readily available, which visitors should probably accept for the sake of eco-friendliness. Staff have to carry along hot water. But the confused organisation left us once with cold showers, and once with lukewarm showers. One has to chase personnel to secure a hot shower. Also, our shower was completely open to one side, with neighbours and passers-by enjoying and unhindered view on anyone taking a shower. This was probably intended to allow for a view of the panorama while taking a shower, but somewhat badly implemented. When we asked for a curtain to be installed we got one one morning, only to be removed later that day, and we had to request it to be re-installed again the next day.

But the really important minus is the lack of warm bedding. It got quite cold at night, and a hot water bottle in bed is nice but if combined only with thin blankets does not make a big difference. I had to beg for additional blankets, but the two Masai blankets granted did not make much difference. I ended up sleeping fully dressed, which is not very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Take only de luxe, since so-called luxury tents are tiny and very cold.

Had a three week holiday in Kenya and Malawi and we stayed at Mara Siria at the start of our trip.Double beds,wc and showers and hot water bottles(nice touch). We stayed in two of the deluxe tents and I thought they were brilliant.
Joel the manager and his team could not do enough for you.I loved our surprise bush breakfast. We loved it as did our kids. The stars at night were amazing.Cannot fault this place. Our guide was brilliant also(Paul).
Plunge pool overlooking the Mara was a view to die for.Only downside was we missed the migration river crossing by a day.

Room Tip: Pick a deluxe one as they are fab.
