Booked safari through DM Tours over the internet, they were very efficient, no problems at all. Governors camp was a wonderful experience, we saw all the animals apart from a rhino and was amazed that you could see for miles without another car, person building ! Our guide was called Gideon and he made our trip, searching out all the things we wanted to see and finding lost of others which we hadn't spotted. On our last morning we took out a picnic breakfast as we were still in search of the elusive leopard, we found one which actually used our jeep as cover while hunting antelope! We were so thrilled.
The food and service were 5 star, eating breakfast while looking at crocodiles and elephants. Here is a link to a video of our experiences ! .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GeNb00VhEw

We stayed at the Governor's camp for 2 nights/3 days but wish we had booked longer. When I told people I would be staying in a tent they were surprised until they saw the pictures. The bed is a good size possibly, king size, and later in the evening two hot water bottles are put in it and this was needed. The bathroom consists of a flushing toilet, basin, bidet and shower (so all you need). There is no electricity but there is a separate room for charging batteries near reception and also an area for you to dry your hair ladies. The location itself is amazing and as there are no fences you certainly get very close to the wildlife. Our first night there we heard the lions, hippo's and an elephant decided to sleep behind the tent next to us so not much sleeping that night but this adds to the adventure. The food was also fantastic and you had a table allocated to you for your stay. This is setup outside (weather permitting). Breakfast consisted of cold and hot buffet food. The hot buffet was cooked to your requirements. Lunch and dinner were 5 courses which included a choice of mains and desserts. You are also woken for your morning drives with a drink of your choose and biscuits. All staff here make you feel very welcome.
Now for what we really came for, the wildlife. You will not be disappointed. This started very well with our drive from the airstrip to the camp we saw the marsh pride and a male lion. Over the three days we had 6 game drives and on each drive saw exceptional wildlife. The lions I could watch continually as they are such amazing animals, especially as you get so close to them. We were also lucky enough on the third day to see Shakirah and her 3 boys. She had not been seen for about a week or so before this sighting. Other animals you see included giraffes, baboons, elephants, gazelles, blue jeans, hippo’s, warthogs, jackals, hyenas, zebras, ostriches, buffalos and a wonderful array of birds. On our first night there a baby elephant had been born, which we saw the afterbirth of on the following morning drive. We were then lucky enough to see the 1 day old elephant on the following days morning drive. We did not see a black rhino, but I believe there are only 6 there and they are quite a rare slight. Our driver JoJo was very good and with a great knowledge of the area and animals. As you are in 4x4 jeeps this allows you to go everywhere and means you get very close to the wildlife. I would definitely recommend this camp and hope that I will go back in the future and for a longer period.

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days and nights at Little Governer's Camp. Although my husband had always wanted to go on Safari, it was not something that had interested me, however the balloon flight picture in the brochure sold the idea and off we went in February. It was truly amazing. It exceeded all expectations. The daily game drives, tents, staff, food in fact everything was wonderful. I could not fault a single thing. Our guide surprised us every day with a new experience or sighting. The balloon flight is an absolute must. It was the most terrific experience and the breakfast the followed was excellent.

We flew from Nairobi to Governor's Camp and stayed for 3 days/2 nights in late March and loved every minute of it. We liked the comfortable tents and the open unfenced camp which gave it more of a wilderness feeling. The food and the service were excellent. The game drives were outstanding and we saw much more wildlife than we ever dreamed we would. We booked our safari through Antony Musyoka of Wildlife Kenya Safaris who gave us flawless service at the best price.

Every game drive was unique and varied. The guides were fantastic and did their utmost to help us find what we wanted to see. Big cats on every outing, but they also knew all the birds and reptiles. To be woken before dawn with a cup of hot chocolate brought to the bed, after a night of listening to lions roaring and hippos grazing outside the tented cabin, not to mention the thunder and lightening was an awesome experience!

We had booked a cheap ‘all inclusive’ week away at the Baobab Hotel in Diani Beach, our plan was to simply chill out by the pool and enjoy the sunshine; however after listening to all the safari stories in the bar each evening from the returning masses, we decided to give it a go.

There was a vast choice of safaris on offer, but as we were only spending two days, we chose the more expensive flight into the Masai Mara and the Governors Camp; which appealed as it was unfenced and as the accommodation was tented, it was closer to nature and arguably more appropriate to the setting. A great decision.

We took the 2 hour flight from the local airport and touched down on a strip of tarmac in the middle of no-where, Land Rovers at the ready to take us back to the camp and freshen up.

After an amazing al-fresco barbeque style lunch, we went on our first game drive. The location, next to a watering hole, means that crocodiles, elephants and occasionally hippos are all visible from within the camp confines and the rest of the animals are not too far away by Land Rover.

The staff are amazingly friendly, the food and wines excellent, the tents are spacious with en-suite facilities and comfy full size single beds. Lighting is battery lamps and gas lights (you can charge your camera by electricity in a central area) and the water is ‘relatively’ hot for a shower (except first thing in the morning, ahead of the first game drive, when it was at best ‘refreshing’!).

For us, one night (two days) was just enough, we had three full game drives and saw everything we wanted to. Any longer would of been repetitive. I would certainly recommend this luxurious way to touch with nature.

We had the great fortune to spend 2 nights/3 days at The Governors camp during our honeymoon.
We booked the stay with Kuoni (Private Safaris) at our hotel (The Voyager). We paid about £1500 for the both of us which is a lot of money but worth ABSOLUTELY every penny.
Many people book the cheaper safaris to Tsavo which are OK but having done both I strongly recommend The Mara. You are near enough guaranteed to see the big five- possibly with the exception of the Rhino who is always elusive!! (we have seen them) It is also a lot less busy so you rarely see many other vehicles.
And so on to the Governors- amazing place!
Greeted with cool towels and a lovely cocktail. The staff cannot possibly do any more for you. The service really is impeccable.
The tents are fabulous and the views are amazing- there are no fences around the camp so the animals can roam freely- especially at night when you are escorted by staff to dinner- you ahve to wave your torch to attract their attention and they they come and get you! They also bring gas lamps and tea/coffee and biccies in the morning before the first drive.
Governors only use land rovers so you get to go wherever the animals are. I have been on the bus type safaris before and the land rivers are far better.
The food is also divine! by far the best food we've had in Kenya- as good if not better than the Tamarind in Mombasa. The breakfast is fantastic with lots of chocie and served al fresco while watching the Mara river. Lunch is part buffet and part a la carte and dinner is a la carte. FABULOUS is all I can say.
This really is one of the nicest most relaxing places we've been and we really didn't want to leave. To hell with the cost get it booked and have your camera ready!
We'll definately go back but would probably go with the Governors group- fly into Nairobi and then to Mara from there. They have various camps which they can fly you between- far better than wasting your time in tacky resorts on the coast!
Couldn't fault a thing... Perfect :-)
