“excellent tents”
Reviewed October 20, 2011

This was my first tent experience. The luxery tents in Sarova Mara Camp were an excellent experience. The toilet with running hot water was great. As we were three the tent seemed little cramped, but the experience was great. The food in all the meals were excellent, great variations in the buffet meals really impressed me.The way back to the tent after dinner was creepy, but I liked & enjoyed it. There are a few dikdiks inside the camp. There is massage facility in this hotel, but you have to book early or it is difficult to get appointments in between the game drives. The game drives in Masai Mara were great. This is the only park in Kenya & Tanzania where we saw six cheetas from very close + all the big five including a black rhino + a lion kill - just before our eyes !! ------- can you believe it ?? All in the same park !! Altogether it was a memorable experience in Masai Mara & Sarova Mara Camp.

Room Tip: The club tents are better than the normal tents

Overview - A great place to stay in Masai Mara.
The Stay - calm, Pleasant & relaxed stay. I would suggest staying in the TENT as it gives a camp like experience although they have the regular rooms available but tents are the best (specially the tents on the extreme end of the fence.
The Food - The food is not that great but the beef steaks burgers are a good option. But the buffet is good assortment.
The service - the service is a bit laid back...we cannot expect anything more in Masai Mara.
The GAME DRIVE - There are chances we spot many wild animals. We spotted the Wildebeest, Elephants, and Lions & Ostrich. Most importantly we also spotted a hunting GAME (we were really lucky).

Wonderful lodge and awesome experience in the Masai Mara. The lodge is well situated within the National Park for a quick flight in from Nairobi. Enroute from the airstrip to the lodge we saw huge herds of elephant, buffalo, a leopard sleeping in a tree and lions, 4 of the big 5 and we hadn't even started our game drives yet. The staff were all exceptionally friendly, the tented lodging was extremely luxurious and the buffet meals were amazing & an extensive wine list - what more could you ask for? A Spa with a great selection of treatments and Grace is a great masseuse so was forced to have a massage daily. what an awesome, relaxing 5 days!! I can't wait to go back.

We found this to be an excellent location, Good food, relaxed and comfortable. With more trees in the Eastern end of the the Masai Mara we saw Leopard every day, Rhino daily, lots of cats- lion families of up to 14, 3 cheetah together and a lot of other animals. The Camp is away from the Mara River for the Wildebeest crossing but the Game viewing on the way was fantastic. Balloon flights give you a totally different perspective of the Wildebeest trails, warthog holes and animals.

My friend and I stayed 2 nights in the Sarova Mara Camp and was well worth the 80km drive along a bumpy road from the nearest town (the road is being repaired/ improved......). Our tent was quite luxurious compared to what we were expecting, and had all the mod cons such as toilet and shower! it was lovely to be able to hear all the birds singing etc The hotel itself was good, as was the restaurant. The staff were always attentive and really friendly. The location's great, as no sooner we were out of the gate and in the reserve we were soon animal spotting! I'd definitely recommend this hotel

If you are looking to experience the real safari the Sarova Mara Tented Camp is the place to go... My second trip to Africa, this time to visit the beautiful parks and feel the real safari way of life, I've stayed in MARA TENTED CAMP 2 nights, see a lot of people arriving/leaving and all staff always ready to assist and smiling. The food is rich and diverse, all the facilities are clean and cousy, ours was nothing luxury, but that's the magic of the safari! Is a quiet camp, you have many places to rest and enjoy wildlife, example dik-dik (I think) running next to you, playing with each other! The expectations were high but they were fulfilled, didn't miss anything. Next time I will choose SAROVA MARA TENTED CAMP...
Ahsante Sana to all team... You made us a very happy couple!

Room Tip: Rest outside your tents to see the DIK-DIK

We were a little apprehensive about staying at our first tented lodge, but this was 'four seasons' camping. The 'tent' had all the amenities, including plumbing, was located in a paradise of wildlife away from the main area of the camp. The service and food were excellent. I'd recommend to anyone, and don't be put of by 'tent', this is luxurious

Room Tip: do you prefer a walk or peace and quiet. Both are available
