I had the pleasure to go for a 4 nights safari trip at the Basecamp Masai and the Eagle view in april.
Everything, from A to Z was perfectly organized. My guide was very patient. Service was what you expect from a 5 stars hotel… Loved the fact that the camps are eco-responsible.

Stayed there for a week . I would stay more if it would be possible . The staff was very friendly ,the rooms were realy nice and comfortable. The location was great . I loved everything about it. The food was okay ,they could have more options though. The eco camp was wonderful . I will always remember this trip.

Two nights at Masai Mara, 3 at Eagle View. Everything flawless. Perfect weather, lots of wildlife, lots of friendly people, outstanding service. Hot water bottle in the bed scared the heck out of me the first night but, oh, how nice!

Stayed for 2 nights at Basecamp at the end of the dry season in late Feb. The staff ensured that I had a fantastic time, enjoying some great safaris, visiting local sites and eating plenty of food.

The accommodation is made up of 5 star permanent tents, which are a creative mix of canvas and permanent structure. All the tents line the river, over which is the national park. The shower and toilet area are fairly open, although private. They have plenty of room, and are spread out enough so the only noise you would normally here is the wildlife.

The camp was built a while ago now, so while clean and in top notch state, it does show a bit of age. Basecamp employ local staff and are progressive in a number of ways. They support the local school - which is well worth a visit.

I flew in to the nearby air-strip from Nairobi - the journey from there was a highlight in itself with plenty of wildlife.

A few key things:
- Wifi in the reception public areas is good, and you can also recharge your various batteries there. No plugs or wifi in the private tents.
- Composting toilet is not that different from a regular loo, and is cleaned daily
- Lots of security - including to walk around after dark due to the wildlife
- Bed is huge, plus a great private deck to watch the world go by
- Food is good quality and quantity, but fairly western and not adventurous. Sitting by the fire-pit and watching the stars is great.
- Derek is a fantastic guide - but the others are also top notch
- Ask to visit the local school - well worth a visit
- The safari vans carry about 6, and are a bit smaller and older than from some of the other camps (which can be a bit over the top), but are also a big step up from mini vans etc.

The camp is part of a community that protects and manages additional wilderness areas to the national park - giving you access to areas that are a lot quieter than the main Masai Mara Park.

Ensure that all fees and changes are included in any quote, including credit card fees if paying on site. I suggest you ALWAYS pay in local currency - exchange rates are terrible.

Room Tip: Then Senator Obama and his family stayed at Basecamp - so ask for their tent if you want to sleep like the President! I would recommend the tents closest to the kitchen bar area. Do keep the tents secure - there are plenty of monkeys about that know how to use a zip.

My Dad and I enjoyed three nights at Basecamp Eagle View. Walking into the camp takes your breath away when you realize you overlook the Mara. It's nestled in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. The views, staff, food, wildlife, rooms were all five star--pretty spectacular place. Was impressed by everything and I hope to go back to experience all three camps in one stay. Visited the Basecamp in Talek for the day and it was fabulous as well. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Love and if you have the opportunity you should visit !
