This was our third lodge in 3 days and our base for the Masai Mara. Our room was quite a distance from reception but that meant we looked directly on to the bush - at night hippos came right up to our terrace and we could stand on the terrace in the dark and watch giraffes silhouetted against the night sky - the location is simply stunning.

The staff in the lodge were a real credit to the company - all very friendly and wanting to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Special thanks to Samson in the Hippo Bar who made our time watching the hippos very enjoyable.

Only slight niggle were the huge marauding hordes of Chinese tour groups. These took over the restaurant as if there own, consumed large amounts of alcohol and created huge noise. It felt like a Beijing school canteen rather than Africa at meal times. Don't let this put you off a great lodge though - just be prepared for it at meal times.

Room Tip: We had adjoining rooms overlooking the bush so we could watch the animals at night.

Fantastic place to stay in the Masai Mara. Lovely Lodge, good staff and they were very knowledgeable about all the wildlife. Loved our room with the huge bed! very comfortable and clean. great hearing the hippos in the lake coming and going at night. Fantastic game drives where we saw everything! Even a leopard sitting quietly by the side of the road. He didn't even move as we approached. Can't wait to go back to the Masai mara. We had 2 days here, not long enough.

Stayed here as part of our safari tour. Spend 2 nights here and upon arrival we were given hot towels and juice to drink. After checking in, out luggage was taken to our rooms. They were large and spacious. Mosquito nets were provided as standard. Great view of the grounds and there were lots of monkeys roaming around freely.

The lodge scenery was excellent - no fencing and they have their own Hippo pool with a bar - so can sit and have a drink and watch the hippo's laze about.

Food was was pretty good. It was buffet style with a range of choices including Indian and vegetarian. Also had a "live station" where they good different things for you while you waited.

Overall a good place to stay!

Travel was done in Oct 2008.This was one of the most amazing properties we have stayed . The lodge opens into the jungle and there is no fencing around it. Quite an adventurous stay but one has to exercise caution post sunset. We actually had lions outside our cottage at night and were thankful for securing the doors and not moving from one cottage to another as we had travelled in a group. The food quality is exceptional and the staff are well trained and courteous. The arrangements for the safari is well co-ordinated and planned. The African sky is a sight to behold after sunset.Watch out for the monkeys.Good photo ops with Exotic birds and picturesque spots .We were lucky to watch a wilder-beast migration.

This lodge was well maintained with an excellent and helpful staff! One night they had a traditional dinner held outside which was lovely. This lodge had the nicest rooms that we stayed in on safari, large fans, mini-bar, clean bathroom and excellent mosquito netting. There are monkeys wandering throughout the hotel grounds, they are cute but sneaky! The buffet was good but not great, a bit bland and repetitive although the tandoori oven station was fantastic! The hippo pool is fantastic at least 10 hippo's were seen, lots of birds, and even a few crocodiles. Definitely worth staying here!
