we got here at the very start of the migration, largish groups of Zebra, wildebeest, hartebeest, etc. are just starting to roll in. We saw everything except cheetah. Had just about given up on a leopard but our driver was nothing if not persistent and treated us to a farewell game drive as we left. A leopard came walking around the corner as we were driving along the road. Unbelievable.

Keekorok is a splendid base for Game drives. We've stayed at the Governors camp, which is marginally better because of it'd location, but this is fine. Limited bar, buffet adequate to good, rooms smallish but ok, but it is the middle of the Mara, for goodness sake.Staff incredibly friendly.

Room Tip: does not really matter.

My honeymoon was in several places in kenya but it kicked off at keekorok Masai Mara during the wilder beast migration. We were given a lovely room facing "the wilderness". i have not gone back there since but there was no fence at that time and the first thing we saw when we woke up was the sun streaming through the curtains, we opened the door and saw the most beautiful sunrise, i still have the beautiful photo from that morning, i have posted it here. We had hired our own vehicle and tour guide who seemed to know where all animals were.....we came across some two lionesses and about 8 cubs walking on the road during an early morning game drive (thats the best time to watch the animals, early morning and late evening around 4) we stopped to stare...they stopped to stare...it was so amusing. The food was great, the hippo pool with the viewpoint, the staff, everything was just awesome!

Room Tip: The rooms away from the dining room facing towards the wild are the best.....but you cannot walk out...

This was the last lodge we stayed in over a 5 day safari and was by far the best - thankfully we were here 2 nights. It is a lovely lodge with friendly staff. Contrary to the review I've just read here, you do get a light for use during the power cuts which in no way impacted our stay. The hippo pool is amazing, as is the other animals we saw around the lodge (monkeys - loads of them! - antelope type things and meerkat type things...). There is a lovely pool too which I used twice and was always quiet!

Only gripe is that we were there on our honeymoon but because keys were randomly assigned to our safari party on our arrival, another couple received all our honeymoon 'benefits' (fruit in room etc), presumably in error.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to have excellent views!

A cozy room surrounded by trees with chirping birds early in the morning. Excellent food for my Indian taste. Courteous staff. ..... and the wild life in Masai Mara.

What else would one want on a holiday. I enjoyed my stay here.

1.we booked hotel for june in April yet we were given very average rooms near the reception with a lot of disturbance
2.also a major bad point was that we were told very rudely at the time of check in that there will be no power from 11 in the morning till 12/30 and then from 3/30 till 6 and then again no power from 12 in the night till 5 in the morning-this was communicated to us very very rudely after checkin-the reception gentleman gave us a printout and told us to read the no power point FIVE TIMES!!
this felt like entrapment and cheating-why was this fact not communicated to us or the travel agent at the time of booking-also the web site also makes no mention of this-had we known this we may have opted for some other resort
3.also the hotel does not even believe in a basic courtesy of providing flashlights in the rooms for use during no lights-it becomes irritating to use ones mobile as a flashlight at night to visit the toilet

Dear Ybindal,

Thank you for your valuable time to write review about our hotel. First of all, let me sincerely apologize about all the shortcomings during your stay with us. Feedback from our guest helps us to provide premier services at Sun Africa Hotels. We sincerely believe and take all efforts at Sun Africa Hotels to ensure that all our guest stays are comfortable and that they are delivered with the highest standards of guest experience.

We have rebriefed our team at front desk ensuring guests are communicated things in a much suttle manner and have also introduced a letter in each room with all information. We do have flash flights at each room and it was error of our staff not to replace one at your room after taking the disfunctional one for repair.

Once again, many thanks for the feedback which has helped us to identify improvement areas and would place us a step higher in our customer satisfaction. Many thanks. Rahul Sood & Team

Stayed at Keekorok lodge mid June for a 3 day safari. We were originally meant to be staying at an alternative lodge outside the reserve, but the safari company (S.H.O.O.R safaris) asked if we'd like to upgrade for a relatively small amount per person, and we agreed mainly on the basis that the lodge is within the NP and would give us more safari time. When we arrived the reception was fantastic with glasses of mango juice and fresh cloths to wash our rather dusty faces. Then the rooms were lovely, very spacious and nice clean bathrooms with good showers (which you want after a dusty day of safari!). Food was excellent, and very plentiful, and cocktails were lovely too. The pool was clean and towels provided for you. The hippo walkway was something special too - a good chance to see the hippos more active in the evening, as well as baboons, monkeys, and even elephants! Staff were always friendly and welcoming, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
