The location is SUPER! Right smack in Maasai Mara. the rooms are lovely with mosquito nettings, plus you get to enjoy the wildlife right outside of your door step. The staff are extremely helpful.

Welcome drink and towel were handed out the moment you arrive.
Wifi was not working during my stay. Priced at 500KS/hr or 1500/24hrs.They were fixing it but still not fixed in my 3D/2N stay.
Massage - in a tent by the pool. Only 1 masseur and not skillful nor properly trained, reasonable price compared to other hotels. From 1500KS onwards.
Food - about the same every meal. Buffet spread.
Room-very clean. Robe, slippers and bathroom amenities provided. No hair conditioner though, so bring your own if you are one who can't live without it.
The hippo lake is very near, just 1 minute walk and it is in the lodge compound. There is a bar there too.
Extremely good service. My aunt sprained her ankle there. They sent her meals to the room. I just collect the food from the buffet spread and the waiter sent the food. They have a wheelchair there but the tyre was flat so back to zero. No crutches either. Management should look into this matter.
Overall a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Get the individual lodge near the entrance, more privacy.

Where do I begin? Keekorok was our final destination for our Kenyan Safari. We had three nights to stay and we had a lovely time.

Rooms:
Our room was in a cottage with another room right next to ours. The walls are a tad thin as we could hear another couple who was on our tour having an argument and the details of such but otherwise all was good. (lol).

The room has everything you need. Again, you are not in this beautiful land to stay in the room. Our bed had mosquito netting around it which the staff pulled around the bed for you when they came to turn down your bed. I've never slept under the netting before and I must admit, my husband and I thought it was somewhat romantic. We didn't really have any issues with mosquitos but we did spray deet heavily on a towel, roll it and placed it by the main door to our room as there was about an inch of space where anything could crawl in.

What I liked the most was hearing the sounds of animals at 2am and wondering what was outside our windows. It was pretty cool.

Lodge:
I believe I read the Keekorok Lodge was the first lodge on the Mara and it opened in the 60s. It appeared as if everything was well maintained. The decor in the lodge was lovely. It made you wish you could take it home with you.

Food:
What I liked was the variety and vegetarian options. This was great. I don't like to eat a lot of meat (none if I can help it) so for me, I was pleased with the offerings. They always had someone cooking right there whether it was noodle stir-fry at lunch or fresh omelettes in the morning. No one in our tour group got ill from the food.

Drink:
If you like beer, please order a Tusker. They tasted oh so good. Maybe it was where we were, the company were we with or maybe it was everything but damn...the beer was good.

Staff:
Everyone we encountered from the woman who did our laundry, to the front desk to the servers were wonderful. I personally found the chefs to be the most congenial.

Grounds:
Amazing and magical. There's nothing like having a cup of coffee and sitting on the back patio listening and watching nature go on around you. We took a nature/bird watching tour of the grounds with Masai tribesman (who works at the lodge) and it was wonderful. Spotting birds and learning about the trees and leaves and what kind of leaf they use for sanding wood vs. which leaf to be used for toilet paper. Quite interesting. There are monkeys everywhere and make sure you go to the Hippo viewing area. There was a baby there when we were there in late November. So great to see. I can hear the hippo call now...I never tired of hearing the animals. As you walk on the path to the hippo bar, just look out onto the Mara and you'll see the silhouette of elephants. Just beautiful!

Spa:
My husband and I took advantage of the spa. For those prices, you have to! We stayed behind while the rest of the group went to the Masai village and we each had a 45 minute massage. It was so nice. There weren't a lot of guests as we were in the off season so it was nice and quiet, however, the spa tent is right by the pool, so I can imagine if people are lounging poolside, you would hear them.

We would definitely stay at the Keekorok Lodge again.

Stayed at Keekorok Lodge for 3 nights. Room was clean, gardens and grounds very well maintained and staff friendly and professional. I did get an awful dose of food poisoning on my second night which took the gloss off the stay. The food is otherwise presented well but I would say any more than 3 nights would become tedious.

Visited Kenya with my husband and two children 16 &13 for two weeks at the end of October 2011 and spent three days up at Keekorok Lodge. We all agreed it was one of the best places we have visited and the lodge was amazing. There had been trouble in Kenya before we went but the staff and Masia wardens in the lodge were fantastic and I had no worries about my children going down to the hippo pool on their own and going off or a walk. Rooms, restaurant, hippo bar, staff, grounds everything about Keekorok was superb and we can't wait to go back in 2013. If visiting the Masai this has got to be the best place to stay.

Room Tip: We had a villa in the grounds overlooking the swimming pool. Two rooms who's doors were facing...
