Writing a review it usually fairly straightforward, however, our experience at Mahali Mzuri was emotional from the moment we arrived at the “airport” to the wonderful staff bidding us Asante Sana. We were moved by the dedication of the Conservancy to protecting the animals and working in harmony with the Maasai people; the abundance of wildlife in its natural habitat; and the generosity of spirit and care of the staff. The camp is perched on a bluff, overlooking a valley, teaming with wildlife. Who ever thought breakfast conversations would include “look at the elephants” and “can you see the lions on the rocks?”
The accommodations were luxurious and we didn’t want for anything. When I mentioned my love of lamb, the Chef, Sammy immediately prepared an extra lamb dish for us the next night. Marianna infused her staff with joy and it showed in every interaction with them. Our guide, John, delighted us with his depth of knowledge about animals, birds and the terrain. He knew where that leopard was headed and made sure we were there for the perfect viewing and picture op.
This is not your ordinary safari camp and the camp’s location in the conservancy ensures that you are not encountering other safari vehicles on every corner.
When the staff all gathered to see us off, the overwhelming feeling was - this is not goodbye, we will see you again. More
