“"Outstanding"”

We have previously traveled to Kenya. This trip was outstanding!! The luxury tents were five star plus. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming above and beyond our expectations. We were introduced to Tom our personal chef to accommodate our special meals required. Thanks Mr. Tom! Our guide Samson was second to none, he made every game drive unique and memorable. Anytime you ask him for anything his immediate answer was Why Not and he followed through. The photo opportunities were amazing. Thanks Samson

Room Tip: Luxury tent by the river is quaint

My husband and I have been to the Masai Mara before, staying in a lodge, and we really enjoyed it. However it was nothing like experiencing the Intrepids Tented Safari. It was a whole different experience, and I will never go back to a lodge. The tents were beautiful.
There is nothing more exciting than sleeping in the fresh night air and hearing the animals around you. But our highlight was with our safari driver, Samson. He was so knowledgeable, and always had his trusty books with him to reference anything we were unfamiliar with. He knew things off the top of his head, so much so that we started to challenge him, and once we looked it up in his reference guides, found that he was always right! Thank you Samson for making our trip to the Masai Mari the best he could hope for! We will be back, and will request Samson as our driver! "Of course, WHY NOT"!!!!!!!

My wife and I have travelled to Kenya on Safari many times in the past, this time we took our two Grandchildren aged 11 and 10. Our first priority was location, then family tents also a Safari Camp that was as we perceive a camp to be, original and not spoilt by glitz and modern interpretations. We spent 5 nights in camp and managed to have a game drive when we arrived also the morning we departed and four full days of game drives. We were woken at 0600 with flasks of Hot Chocolate and Cookies then started our game drives with our Driver Joseph, our Grandchildren were mesmerised with all the game they saw, Joseph was so knowledgeable and good with us all especially our Grandchildren, we managed to see the Big 5 and many, many more wild animals from Elephants to Bat Eared Foxes, Vultures to Mouse birds. Our family tent was superb, two tents with bathrooms split with a nice lounge area, but at all times you could see from one tent to the other, which allowed us to see our Grandchildren. The tents location was an added bonus overlooking the Talek River so you could view wildlife from your tent and verandah. The tents were always serviced by Gedion whilst we were on our game drives, water bottels replenished, our driver very kindly picked us up and dropped us off near the family tent to save us walking to far. All meals were of excellent quality and quantity, if you did not like what was on the menu they would prepare an alternative for you. Tom our waiter was excellent and spoilt our Grandchildren as did all the other staff. On Valentines Day there was a nice surprise with food & drink when we came off our Game Drive and in the Evening there was a special dinner around the pool, all the Ladies were presented with a Red Rose, my wife was thrilled as she had not received a red rose from me for over 45 years. All staff were very friendly and efficient, just to mention a few Steve the Manager, Stella his assistant, Tom the Head Chef, Andrew Reception(who kindly printed our Boarding Passes for us, in fact I would recommend all the staff for making our stay at Mara Intrepids, such a memorable and happy occasion. Having stayed in several other Safari Lodges I rate this the best, for it's location, authenticity, staff, service, food, value for money and all round complete package. We will definitely return to Mara Intrepids some time in the future, just have to save up.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Family Tents No's 1 & 2 all tents are afforded a degree of privacy and the...

From the momemt we checked in, this was a pure service culture, nothing was too much trouble. This is a smaller camp but well spread out tent accomodation provided secure but private lodging, We ventured out on the morning safari which started at approx 5am in the morning, a lovely wake up call with a piping hot chocolate made the dash out of the bed well worth it, Our game explorer (Driver) was fantastic - it was quite quiet at the time we visited to we had full exclusivity of our own driver for the 4 days we spent at Mara, Our Time was precious so we decided to have our breakfast to take away and spent each morning at a water hole looking over the numerous hipps and crocs whilst tucking into our english tea and sandwiches.
Evening meal was set menu, but very varied and our host greeted us by our first names each time - we was made to feel like VIP hosts.
Our accomodation was towards th back of the camp overlooking the creek so we could get to see the giraffes and hippos, water was only warmed at specific times - this was no problem !. Each night our bedding was turned down with a hot water bottle, especially welcome as temps dropped. Remember to back to warm jumpers !!
Mara has its own airfield so the xfer from Nairobi was fun and fast, and being stop number 3 you got to see Mara from an aeriel view.
We visited in July - so infact the great migration had already started - it was the most amazing natural event we have even seen, We was also luck enough to see the big 5 , including the elusive Black Rhino,
I could not fault one thing about this camp, The Staff , The Location, The Accomodation,
Its one place in the world the wife and I will always look back with fond memories.

Room Tip: Try to pick a tent towards the watering hole for fantastic sites and sounds,m

My wife, two friends and myself were picked up from Governors camp after a 3 night stay there by John who turned out to be our driver when on the game drives he is a Masai tribesman and an excellent guide. We drove to Intrepids that took about 2 hours and saw loads of wildlife on the way. When we arrived we were greeted with a welcoming drink whilst we dealt with the paperwork. After this we were escorted to our tents that in fact turned out to be pieces of art on the Masai the accommodation was sumptuous infact better than some 5 star hotel rooms I have stayed in situated on the rivers edge the water flowing by was very relaxing. After unpacking we went to the bar for g&t,s before the afternoon game drive our barman Dave was warm and friendly and his service was impeccable. So its back to the tents and then off with John for our 1st game drive unfortunately it was a little quiet compared to what we had come from and at that moment we all realized just how lucky we had been. Mind you the next day John made up for it and by the end of our intrepids stay we had seen another different big five he was so good and appeared to have x-ray vision he spotted just about everything we honestly felt honoured to be with him. When we ate at the restaurant we were not expecting to be given an alacarte menu but that,s what is was like, the food was absolutely stunning what made it even better was our waiter Julius who was just brilliant, professional and very funny he had a laugh just like Frank Bruno that entertained us during our meals Tom the chef produced the most perfect dishes. We were so spoilt by the quality and service we were given at Intrepids. We absolutely adored our stay needless to say when we when we go to the Mara again we will be staying there.A very special thanks to John when we boarded the plane back to Nairobi and saw him waving as we took off all 4 of us had lumps in our throats. Also Dave,Tom and the rest of the team.Thankyou

Room Tip: Tent 16 was perfect.

Accommodation was spotless, comfortable and very well located. Food was really good - its easy to overeat here so beware. Service was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble for the staff - they just wanted you to relax and enjoy your stay.
