We spent a weekend at Mara Serena Safari Lodge in March and it was a great experience. The staff members were extra friendly and always at hand to sort out any issues. The food was great. The rooms are clean and intimate. The transfers to and from the airstrip were flawless. We took a game drive and it was just amazing. Special mention to Dan who made us feel at home.
We look forward to visiting again.

Well after 3 years I returned to Serena Mara Lodge. 3rd visit and what a visit if only for a two night stayover. Met at the airstrip by my friend/guide Emmanual, he was looking good...The Lodge after the renovations still retained its old atmosphere. The staff greeted me with big hugs as most of them were still employed after all this time. The drives and the dwellers, plenty of them on the wide spanse of land were grazing contently. It was good to be back. BUT to short.. Overall this Lodge STILL has it all. Thank you Emmanual, and all the staff, to many to note, i will always remember though.. Highly recommended.

It was a wonderful experience to stay in the small little rooms in the hotel.Since it was not the peak season we were able to get rooms closer to the dining area. We were outside most of the time looking for lions and elephants and Zebras near the hotel and got some rare pictures like the lion with its kill and a just born baby elephant. The safaris were good with expert guides acting as drivers. Visit to the nearby Masai village is a must as one gets to see the way they live. the balloon ride was a must experience. The food was not bad and the staff courteous. The singer entertaining the diners was an added attraction . There was a surprise bush breakfast on the last day of our stay while coming back from the morning safari with toast , omelettes and tea and coffee. On the whole it was a novel experience which could be repeated.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the dining hall are easier to negotiate at night.

What can I say, we had the time of our lives during our safari holiday in Kenya in Oct'14 and our final stop in Kenya, The Mara Serena Safari Lodge was the icing on the cake! This one of the very few properties within the core Masai Mara National Park and it's location overlooking the Mara river is a great advantage. Compared to other properties, you will be much closer to the "action" at Mara Serena, in fact, we had guests witnessing a pride of lions bring down a buffalo from the viewing deck of the hotel (we were away on a game drive, so missed the same). The game drives were one of the best for viewing all the big 5, no small thanks to our fabulous guide cum driver, Mulei whose knowledge of the savannah, whose ability to spot cheetahs camouflaged far away while driving was simply amazing!

Masai Mara is a great experience for everyone, and staying at Mara Serena makes the experience all the more better. The views are great, during migration you can easily catch the spectacle from the lodge (albeit from a distance) and everything about the resort - one of the oldest in Mara - is nice.

The rooms, a tad small, are nicely laid out and are very clean with stunning views and the food at the restaurant is simply awesome. The bush breakfast was a sensational experience, enjoying champagne breakfast within few 100 meters of a pride of lions was unbelievable. The pool area with the fire pit is an addition worth sitting there in the evenings. The water is filtered in the bar, so one can happily have alcoholic drink with ice without a bother... :-)

The views from the rooms are unbelievable. You are able to look at over the savanna for miles. The sounds of the Mara at night are enthralling, hear hyenas barking at night and if you plan your trip during the full moon you will have sight to behold from sunset to moon-rise to nightfall.

For folks with walking difficulties do ask for a room closer to the reception, and maximize your time in Mara while visiting Kenya. No review of our safari holiday would be complete without acknowledging the superlative overall experience that we had thanks to our Tour Operator, Africa Keys! Thank you, Aparajita & your Africa Keys team for a most memorable experience!
