A wonderful 4 nt stay and we loved everything about this camp. The location is super and perfect for the amazing wild life action. Excellent tents, food and public areas. We also were bowled over by the super Bush Breakfast and Dinner. The staff and management are good. We only experienced the Mara traffic jam once ie 29 vehicles round 1 poor leopard! Unfortunately we also had a guide shout at us from a company called Photographic Safaris who did the same to others and on other days! Thought he was in a private concession, I think!!

WOW!!!!! We just returned from Kenya (Cheetah Safari-Somak Holidays) and had to write about this camp. It really was so luxurious, couldn't believe the four-poster bed! The tent had a fantastic view over the river where the hippos bathed during day and grazed at night! We loved sitting by the fire at the bar after dinner, stargazing for hours! The service was excellent. A tip about the masai mara, the great migration is really something very special so plan your trip for october/november. We were so lucky so see it in action and really is something that you will never forget!

This was my favorite accommodation on safari. The room was very comfortable and the service was very friendly and personal. I really love the personal wake up "knocks on your door" in Africa. The food was good, although I wouldn't say it was gourmet. I loved the private patio overlooking the river (complete with guinea fowl wandering past, crocodiles sunning themselves, and wallowing hippos). In between early morning and late afternoon safaris, the pool was lovely to relax at.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the river.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and the only bad thing I can say about the whole experience is the damn leopard evaded us whilst on safari....surprise surprise!!

The mara is beautiful and if any one is reading this considering if you should go to the Mari then please take one thing from this review....GO!!!

The hotel and staff are Fantastic. We stayed as part of our honeymoon and on check in (after a long and bumpy road) we were greeted with a huge congratulations and were shown our room. Our room was breathtaking and overlooked the mara river with plenty of hippos relaxing in the water - you are literally a stones throw from the water. Also in our room upon arrival was a letter from mgmt thanking us for picking the hotel as part of our honeymoon, a fruit basket and a lovely bottle of red wine. The rooms are very large and cleaned to the highest of standard twice daily. It is a surreal experience being awoke to the sound of a hippo shifting about the river bank less than 30 yards from you (don't worry the rooms are on stilts so you are safe!!). Outside on your balcony is a large sofa bed where you lay back after an early morning safari and watch the few lazy hippos stroll around the river banks (note the hippos are wild animals and may not always be in the location beside the hotel).
So I can't fault the rooms nor can I fault the staff. There is nothing they won't do for you and always have a warm smile on their face. Many of them are local massi and they are the hidden gem of this wonderful hotel. When you finish you're meal at night there is always a member of staff to walk you to you're room which is a great touch.
The food also is very good. After coming from Nakuru where the food was average at best you can imagine how excited my wife and I were when we saw the dining options on our first night - stir fried calamari amongst others.....all the food had a fantastic taste and was prepared fresh. The chefs were great to have a chat with and took so much pride in their food.
There is a fire lit every night and people can sit around the fire and chat about the exciting day they just had.
Writing this I wish I could go back in the morning, the massi mara and migration is fantastic and this hotel added to what was the best few days of my file.....Asante sana.

Ok, this hotel was not my choice, we reserved on another hotel but at last minute the tour company had problems with the reservation and had to find us another hotel for one night, they sent us to Ashnil...i wasnt so amazed with the hotel....it is nice and very clean, staff is so nice, and food is good....but it has no view, it is surrounded by tall trees and you can barely see the river....but the reason it was the best experience for us was because of its location......we had the BEST of our game drives here.....next to the river is where you see the most animals.....we got to see a lion in action defending the meat she just killed for her cubs....amazing! So evethough the hotel is not the best, the location is worth it to stay here....rooms are clean, you hear hippos at night, a little scary haha...oh! And ask for a close room to reception, there is a lot of walking involved otherwise....and if you plan visiting masai mara (any hotel) bring face cream, eye drops and chapstick, you spend a lot of time outside with the wind hitting your face and the air can be dry...plus dust from the drives...enjoy!

When traveling in Africa it is nice to come back after a sfari drive to a nice warm shower and a cold beer. At Ashnil we had both.
The staff here were absolutely tremendous and went out of there way to help us.
The rooms were large and the shower and bath area very updated.
Great stay team keep up the good work.

Room Tip: The rooms can be noisy sometimes especially if the group next to you are going Hot Air Ballooning at...

spent 3 nights here, after 3 nights at ashnil samburu camp, and overall preferred the mara camp. The food and accommodation were fantastic, and the safaris were great,we arrived while the migration was still there, animals everywhere, including 3 prides of lions, leopards, and cheetahs .We stayed in room 29 with a view of the mara river,a bit of a walk from reception but well worth it.We hope to return.

Room Tip: fly in and use the resident guides, and vehicles.
