We absolutely loved Mara Plains Camp. The staff was not only warm and gracious, but almost telepathic about what you may want or need. The focus here -- as it should be everywhere -- is on helping you get the most out of your safari. One day our "morning" game drive lasted 10 hours because our guide insisted that we stay out so that we could see the fantastic spectacle of the wildbeasts crossing the Mara. Not only that, but when we got back to camp at 4, they had a delicious lunch waiting for us and then asked us if we wanted to go back out for the "afternoon" drive. Who could say no?
For all of their visitors, Richard, Lorna, and the staff create the impression of an intimate camp full of long-lost friends. The amazing part, though, is that they do it while at the same time providing the luxuries and comforts you would expect at the "top" resorts.
We have stayed at the best safari camps (Singita, etc.) and I would return to Mara Plains as quickly as anywhere else. Truly outstanding. Cannot recommend this one highly enough.More
