“Very rich history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014

I was taken aback by the rich culture and history. In particular Mohammed Kijuma - who has an entire room dedicated to him. Unfortunately very little is known of him by the outside world. Reading about him and listening to Maurice, i had no choice but relate with the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Maurine Sialo was extremely helpful at the museum.

“Lamu Museum and Lamu Fort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

The Lamu Museum is situated on the main waterfront street of the Lamu Old Town facing the Manda Bay, the famous racetrack for donkey derbies. It is a magnificent 14th century double storied house that documents the Swahili cultures with specific focus on Historic ruins, Mosques. Lamu Fort is on the second street and provides an age old auditorium where all ceremonies are held.

“History is good!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

As there is little to do on Lamu, a visit to the Museum is a must, steeped in history and much to discover..or sneak out up on to the roof to see over the island.
