Found this place by accident and fell in love with it. A peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of Main Street outside. The shady courtyards are idylic.
Coffee is very good, so are the shakes and juices. Reasonable quality wine.
Went in one night at 7.45 not realising that they close at 8.00. The staff were excellent and even prepared two Seafood Salads for us. We left at 9.15 but we never felt we were made to rush.
We highly recommend if you want to get away from it all.

It is worth coming from Shela for the delicious cappuchino, even better than at Peponi hotel. Courteous staff. Gallery is expensive but found a beautiful antique ring waiting for me.

Kate has brought a style to Lamutown that is clean, African Arabic European , always excellent clean environment with exceptional cuisine. A treat in the middle of an ancient old island town.

While staying in Lamu for 3 weeks we found Whispers a good spot for a bshort respite from the hustle , bustle & noise of the main street.
Good for a coffee and a quiet read of the papers ( provided)
Expensive , but the usual prices for the expats/ tourists.

During our month long stay on Lamu, we ventured here for a change of pace from local Swahili restaurants. Whispers could be in Cape May or Boca Raton. The setting and food are lovely. I had amazing beet root soup and my husband really liked the wraps. They also serve a very nice Greek salad AND you can get a glass of wine which is hard to do on the island. The service was excellent but prices are high compared to local spots. The one drawback is the stultifying heat in the dining courtyard and this was at 7 PM. Ironically, the local seafront restaurants always have a wonderful breeze flowing through.
