“Nice environment, Average food”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

This was the second time we'd been bought here as part of our safari, and whilst the whole atmosphere and experiance does start/end your overall experiance the food choice and range seemed more restrictive than last time.
However the same technique now learnt from other restaurants offering similar experiances (Especially Brasil) is to use the flag time-out's tactically by observing the meat arriving and not going for the early "stomach fillers" but for the quality cuts that arrive later....
And don't go for the Wine by the bottle...very expensive (added 28% tax on top of quoted prices)...
BUt sticking to Beer and using the time-outs with skill can make this a value experiance alongside the ambiance.

“Expensive and uninspring”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Can't say it any simpler than this:

Average food for a high price.

There really isn't much of an exotic meat selection (ostrich and crocodile) being the only ones I can remember in addition to beef, chicken, pork and lamb.

I would skip this gimmick and go to an nice restaurant if you're willing to pay this price.

“Great ambiance, ordinary food”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I ate at the Carnivore 25 years ago and remembered it fondly. It still has the ambiance of the African plains with skewers of meat roasting over a fire pit in the center of the restaurant. Waiters come by your table offering to slice off freshly roasted meat for you. You could eat forever, so they have a sign you can put on your table to say "I'm on a break" or "I'm finished." But they no longer serve any wild game meats (it's illegal now) and the meats that were available weren't exceptional. I think the meal is a little overpriced, but it's still fun to eat there.

“Can't imagine people still fall into this Tourist trap”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Food is still very average, Dawa's still watery, but it seems that it remains the tourist place to eat Bush meat, with eth waiters walking around proposing you krocodile, chicken, ox tail, water buch etc. I was trapped into taking some guests who refused to leave Nairobi, without having been there. I had not been in 6 years and it still does not give a decent price/ quality ratio to me either, but guests were happy...
