Description: The restaurant has been built at the edge of a natural spring, in the middle of this indigenous forest with utmost sensitivity to environmental conservation. We did our landscaping with hand wheel barrows to reduce vehicular foot print in the forest. Our well maintained lawns can host up to 4 functions at the same time, totalling to 1700 pax. We also have an ample secure parking facility. One of Dari's best secrets lies in the gardens which is patrolled by beautiful Thompsons' gazelles, Impalas, Dik-diks, Bush babies, Tree hyrax, Tree squirrels and birds like peacocks, cranes, hornbills, sunbirds to name a few.

Dari has such beautiful gardens, good food and lovely live band on Sundays but the service is poor. I had lunch with family and friends and enjoyed the ambience...but the poor service made the experience average. Once served, it takes the waiters quite some time to respond to your needs. When we complained of the poor service the answer we were given is "We are very busy"..no apologies given. If the attitude of the staff can improve...the experience can amazing.

Dari Restaurant has all the potential to be a wonderful venue. It is set within beautiful landscaped gardens. Unfortunately we did not get an opportunity to enjoy the gardens. When we arrived there were several available tables on the verandah. We asked to sit in the garden and were told that there were no available tables in the gardens and would have a long wait before one was available. I asked the staff to move one of the tables from the verandah into the (virtually empty) garden and was informed that “the Directors do not allow that”. I replied that the whole point of coming to the restaurant was so that I could enjoy the lovely gardens. It is not as if the table and chairs were heavy. (my 4 your old nephew could carry them on his own!) Staff would not budge and insisted that the chairs were not allowed to be moved. At this point we walked out. The mind boggles at the illogical “rule”. A restaurant that would rather lose customers than accommodate a simple request must be run by Muppets. We will certainly not be returning.

We set out with high hopes as this was our first visit to Dari. Our first impression of the place was great as we were given a warm welcome by the reception staff and met with beautiful smiles. It is tastefully furnished and decorated, and the outdoor seating area which is a choice between the garden and the verandah is indeed very nice and relaxing. It is a family orientated restaurant and there is a play area designated for children which we did not inspect. We sat by the pond, but had to move as the mosquitoes were feasting on us. We ordered an open pumpkin ravioli and waited, and waited…….. and waited. The owner/manager walked by us twice and did not approach us once to ask if everything was alright. Anyway, after 20 minutes, our patience grew thin and when we enquired about our food, we were told it was on its' way. Eventually when the food arrived, the pasta was uncooked and we were apologised to and offered a fresh plate, but by that time, we were not prepared to wait any longer. It is disappointing that a restaurant with so much potential is letting itself down in more ways than one.

This is a fairly new restaurant, located close to Karen shopping Center on the Ngong Road. If you are coming from the city center it is about 100 meters beyond St. Francis Church on the opposite side of the road.

The restaurant is set in landscaped gardens amid the remnants of indigenous forest. There is ample car parking, from which it is a short walk to the restaurant. Most of the tables are on a wide verandah at the front of the restaurant building. There are also tables indoors and a few in the gardens close to the pond and fountain at the front of the restaurant. There is also a spacious bar. Private functions can be catered for in the grounds.

The service is quick and attentive and the food delicious. Try the restaurant's signature dish, Dari Prawns, their take on prawns piri piri, and you won't be disappointed. I can't remember when I had better. There are many other options to chose from to suit both the meat eater and the vegetarian. The desserts are heavenly.

It is not the cheapest restaurant in the area, a main course and dessert will easily run to 2,000 shillings (around $20 US), but good value for money.

Went to Dari for a late lunch last week and I have to admit that the service is wonderful. The ladies at the front desk greet you with warm smiles, the great service continued through out our visit. Our waitress was very helpful in suggesting items on the menu which were true to word.

The kids were able to play on the trampoline as the staff watched them while we enjoyed our meal. The owner of the restaurant went above and beyond by coming to our table to find out if we had enjoyed our meal, he even went on to introduce the one of the daughters who manages the restaurant. Furthermore, he also gave the kids ice cream on the house. Now that is customer service at its BEST... Dari, you have my attention!
