Where to begin with this horrible experience. I was hoping to rate it at less than one. Apparently that is not possible. The food was beyond horrendous. They had a new year's lunch buffet that had the worst tomato soup we had ever tasted as it was made from canned tomatoes and had an acrid smell and taste to it. They did not have bread rolls for the soup but just plain, awful bread. The salad was basically salsa (kachumbari) and lettuce. With NO salad dressing. The main was roost potatoes (whatever those are), pilau, chapati and roast chicken/pork. No stew, no plain rice, no potatoes, no lamb, no stir fry station, no carving station, nothing vegetarian. The dessert was a fruit salad (whose watermelon was not fresh) and some cake that was so dry it had to have been made 3 days prior. Horrible. Did I say the food was disgusting. I hope I have said it enough times for you to remember. All this for Ksh. 3,000 per person. Total waste of money as the food was worth not more than Ksh. 200.
After we complained, they let half the table order a la carte. We had grilled chicken and the pan fried tilapia on a bed of pureed sukuma. Nothing to write home about. At that point we all just wanted to get out of there. Despite all this, they still charged the full amount for the buffet for the few of us who had suffered through it. They could clearly see the displeasure on all the people's faces but not an apology came from them. We quickly went to another restaurant to eat as we were starving.
The only good thing about this place is the ambiance and the grounds. So if you want to pay an arm and a leg for that, go right ahead. My point - do not bother.
