“Very interesting place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014

I was able to learn about both arts and history of Kenya. The displays of arts and crafts are mostly from West Africa, and this collection are really really impressive. History and politics of Kenya were also exhibited, with story of Tom Mboya.

“Nairobi Treasured Museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

First stop after breakfast. Admission for a non resident is 200 shillings. You will need a minimum of one hour to do justice to all that is here. History buffs will appreciate the numerous collections of documents and photos, with many of the figures still alive today. The various tribes are well represented with sculptures, wood carvings, and other materials. The second floor will delight the stamp buffs and it is up here that you might need more time to hunt for the first air mail stamps to Kenya, among others. The building itself adds to the fun if discovery.

“Visit the Nairobi National Archives”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

The place is good to visit and it's right at the heart of Nairobi. If one wants to study more about Kenyan history and politics, that's the place to go. It's very near the monument of the late Tom Mboya, a real hero in Kenyan early history.

“Worthwhile excursion”

I walked to the National Archives from the Intercontinental. The displays offer a detailed picture of Kenya, its people and the culture. Make sure you go there

“A thorough museum, but pretty basic in terms of presentation”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

The museum is interesting but you really have to take some time to go through and read all the little details to get most out of it. The presentation is fairly basic and wouldn't be engaging for someone not willing to commit the time and effort to digging around a bit. Would only recommend if you've got some time and are eager to do a little research on your own. If you put in the effort though you'll be pleasantly rewarded with some interesting stories and information and some fascinating artefacts.
