I have been to the Giraffe Center in Nairobi two times. The first time was many years ago, I was probably around 10, and terrified of feeding the giraffes. I spent my whole visit trying to convince myself that giraffes are friendly animals. Which they are, but it was the tongue business that was scaring me the most. When I finally fed the giraffe I realized how fun it actually was.
Last year, I returned to the Giraffe Center. I went with two very good friends of mine, and I could not get enough of the giraffes. It is a fun experience for everybody, no matter how old you are.
You can also find a resident herd of warthog and some tortoises. We only got to see the tortoises.. Which is okay, because I remember being afraid of getting run over by the warthog when I was 10.
I will definitely come back to feed the giraffes again.
The Giraffe Center began as a conservation project to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, and it also works as a great contributor to educating children about the wildlife, as many do not get the chance to experience the abundance of wildlife in Kenya. More
