Having seen Giraffes in the wild we were a little sceptical about going to the Giraffe Centre and thought that it would be a bit boring, but my husband and I had a good time.
We went as part of a circle trip visiting the David Schelick Elephant Orphanage and the bead centre so only paid one fee to our driver who sorted out getting the tickets and such.
We were not aware of the significance of seeing the Rothschild Giraffes, which are endangered, and after reading the pamphlet we were given upon entering it was good to know the role in which the centre has played in saving this species of Giraffe.
Yes of course you can feed them so getting close to them is quite special but of course they are wild in someways and when we were there only 1 giraffe was interested in being fed so it was a bit chaotic with everyone trying to get there turn. The other giraffe were still withing viewing distance but minding their own business.
On the same grounds there are a few other small animals such as tortoise and warthog plus the usual souvineer shops.
Our driver did have some troubles finding the centre and it is a little out of the city. It could understandably cost a little in taxi fare to get out to the centre, but make sure the driver knows where he is going.
