After going to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust we were taken to the Giraffe Centre where you can get up close and personal to the giraffes in the grounds.
The best thing is the viewing platform where you can look a giraffe in the eye and feed them pellets.
If you’re brave enough put a pellet between your lips and receive a sloppy giraffe kiss ! it’s quite an experience.
There are people on hand to ask questions but they were not forthcoming in giving you information, you have to ask them.
The shop has an array of gifts but beware, its expensive. I wanted to buy a bird book and it worked out at £40. Down the road I found the same book for half the price so just be wary.
Its hit and miss if the giraffes are at the feeding platform, we had two come over which were coaxed by someone going out into the field with a bucket of pellets and then walking them in. But they can go where they like although I’m sure they associate the viewing platform with food so you shouldn’t have a problem.
Overall, an enjoyable stay and a great opportunity to get up close and personal with these gentle giants.
