“A great place indeed”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

Very good food; excellent service. At night it gets quite chilly in Nairobi, we were a bit cold, so the waiters put our table next to the fireplace and put it on. Hard to imagine a better setting to enjoy Ethiopian food. The coffee ceremony after dinner is another highlight.

The place is well hidden and the taxi drivers hardly ever know where that is. If you are not familiar with Nairobi, either get their phone number from the web: http://abyssinianairobi.com/ and get the driver to call them for directions or go with a GPS in your smartphone and tell the driver how to go (for this we recommend CityMaps2go).

“Delicious Ethiopian”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

I went to 3 Ethiopian/ Eritrean restaurants in Nairobi, and thought this one was the best. The spices, portions, and flavors were fantastic. The coffee in the back area was excellent, too. I went with a bunch of locals so it's not all filled with tourists :-)

“Great Ethiopian in Westlands”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

Hidden away in Westlands this is one of my favourite restaurants in Nairobi. Great Ethiopian food (come with friends and get the combination plates for sure) in a nice outdoor setting.

“good food but slow service”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

this restaurant is very popular with tourists.. one of the most expensive ethiopian restaurants in town compared to the rest.
you definitely have to wait a while for the food and service. however, all in all,,, food is great... i wouldnt recommend the sheesha much... there are better places for that.

“Best Friday lunch”
Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

The best Friday lunch I have had in many years. A fulfilling satisfying meal with a great atmosphere.
The owner came by to say hi and spend some time talking about why he does what he does - to have happy customers. And we left happy and stuffed.
