Description: Set in 21 acres of Karen, a leafy suburb twenty kilometers Southwest of Nairobi, lies the Purdy Arms. With a view of the famed knuckled ridge of the Ngong Hills (“I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills” – Karen Blixen, Out of Africa) it is a relaxing place to stay, have a meal or drink or two.

Great place, beautiful surroundings, attentive staff and cold Tusker! The menu is good and the standard of food is high. Great for families, travelers and Karenites alike. Good job guys

Nairobi is one of the few cities of the world where you get big city stuff shoulder to shoulder with space - real African space. The Purdy Arms is 20-acres of glorious garden space in Nairobi. With the closing of the very popular Rusty Nail in 2012, there was a big gap in the market for good food in a lovely outside setting and The Purdy Arms has nipped in and cornered this market perfectly. The indoor sports bar is also proving very popular and is packed on big game nights - especially rugby. The food is a simple but good with a quirky twist which keeps it interesting. The red snapper with lime I had when last there was perfectly cooked and delicious, the chocolate roulade fantastic and others on the table raved about the beach prawns. We have had supper inside and while it was fine, it is the outside terrace that really makes it and I would highly recommend the Purdy as the nicest place to have a relaxing, long outdoor lunch in Nairobi.

I stayed at Purdy arms for 1 night on business and will be back. The rooms are excellent, the gardens are beautiful and the staff go out of their way to make the stay even better. The owners were extremely friendly. What a wonderful place to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. Well done guys.

This is sort of an outdoor pub setting with a terrace overlooking a nice garden as well as a more pub-like setting inside. A nice place to go with friends but not a romantic dinner. It has both a pub menu and a fine dining menu that you can mix and match from. The appetizers were really good!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review, it is always appreciated.
Note that we do have indoor dining, particularly the upstairs diniing room which offer a bit more privacy and hopefully romance.
Laid back is what we were going for so we are glad we are getting there.
Thanks again and we look foward to welcoming you back.

I arrived at the Purdy Arms feeling v tired. Kat was so welcoming. I stayed in a lovely room (Zebra) and despite a few teething problems, I was completely calm because they really care about everything. Breakfast and the food in general is great. Staff friendly and willing. The grounds are stunning. This place deserves to do really well.
