The starters and pasta dishes are nice, the pizzas are not quite to the same standard as those from the original Osteria restaurant on the corner between Lenana Rd and Chaka Rd in Kilimani. The wines are ok but a bit overpriced. The setting could be very nice but the garden and the pool looked a bit neglected.

Something needs to happen here! It has a big sister, or maybe there are more than two -not sure. This place I like. The grounds are nice, there is a pool, which looks nice to sit by at lunch or dinner. You can get in if you're brave! There is a lot on the menu and the standard can vary. I will go again. The staff are friendly and there is something sweet about the place. I think if they gave it a bit of a push and scaled down the menu, they could do great things. Less is more! They do good take-away. They are family-friendly and kids can run around without bothering the grown-ups.

I've always been an Osteria girl but hadn't been to Karen. It was a random weekday afternoon so it was deserted. Service was average, prices had gone up for what I didn't think was better quality food than what I'm accustomed to. We asked about the price difference between the eating-in and the delivery (delivery was lower) and didn't get a good response. All in all, it was an okay experience.

It's a sad fact that this restaurant has gradually deteriorated over the last 5 years. I'm not sure if it was the change of ownership or that this restaurant now struggles to keep up with its local Karen competitors. One thing is for sure though. Serving people wine that is corked, or just of inferior quality (this has happened twice now), and over-cooked pasta that tastes like it has just come out of a boil in the bag packet isn't going to help. I was always very fond of this place as they were quite happy to let our dogs in, it is in a lovely setting and has a swimming pool. If you are going to give it a go I recommend a Sunday as it always seems a bit more together as it is their busiest day. The staff are very friendly and do their best. Come on guys get it together. There is certainly room for a good Italian restaurant.
