“A special place in the heart of Westlands”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Amaica is an authentic restaurant that showcases the best of Kenyan cuisine beyond the plethora of goat meat, ugali and sukumawiki that you find everywhere. There is something for everyone but keep the pizza and KFC mentality at home. Decor is tastefully done and the restaurant has lots of seating areas. The outside patio is a prime location. There's also a jungle gym for kids.

“Don't know why this place isn't more popular”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We've eaten here several times, and each has been a good experience. Once, we were offered a buffet and the others time ordered off the menu. I like going here with out-of-town visitors to give them a sense of Kenyan food. The menu is quite extensive, with choices representing cuisine from all over the country. It's not the greatest food on the planet, but there is a wide range of flavorful dishes, many of them things you may not have tried but are well worth tasting (like pumpkin greens). The setting is very pleasant, with a big terrace and view of the Karura Forest. There's a playground for children. The only odd thing is that each time we have been there, it has been nearly empty. I'm not sure how they stay in business, and I think they deserve more credit and business.

“Nice quiet place”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

This was a nice little quiet place. The food was pretty good. Service was good (but we were the only ones there at the time). My husband enjoyed the food (he's Kenyan)

“Go Elsewhere!”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

We had the mixed platter. First, the waiter eliminated a number of items from the list of dishes we were supposed to get. What was left really was not very tasty at all, with numerous off-flavors. Finally, the price was quite outrageous for Nairobi. We were there on a weekend night and only one other table was occupied (also with tourists).

The next day, a friend took us to Ranalo Foods in downtown Nairobi. Lots of people, very lively. The food was far better than Amaica and at a fraction of the price.

“Great African food and experience”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

The restaurant is great with a wonderful African ambiance and great food to match. The locations are great and are accessible to all. The prices are okay, in my opinion it is value for money. Do you have any guests from abroad? Here is a great place to introduce them to African cuisine
