Zapata is a relative newbie on Nairobi's food scene - and in a city with no Mexican or Tex Mex restaurants, this one generated some hype. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't live up to it. On the plus side, the decor is charming and they serve decent margaritas. If you want to go for happy hour and some nachos, its ok. Other than that, the food quality is insultingly bad. Stay very clear of any beef dishes - even in fajitas or tacos, the beef quality is so bad and fatty that it is barely a cut above dog food. We ordered four different dishes, none of them were seasoned, and tasted completely bland. No flavour. The food isn't cheap either - look at spending about 10-15 usd per dish. The restaurant could have potential to make customers happy, but they need to get a new chef ASAP.
