Description: The Aero Club of East Africa was founded in 1927 by the aviation pioneers who opened up the frontiers of Africa. It still retains that 1930s romantic charm and historical ambience. The club is the only restaurant at Wilson Airport, four km from Nairobi’s central business district on the Langata Road. It is on the edge of the Athi Plains, with easy access to the Nairobi National Park and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The restaurant has inside dining, a large eating deck and tables in the garden and by the swimming pool. It overlooks Wilson’s 007 runway and is an ideal spot to spend the hours before you leave on safari or to unwind on your return and watch planes and helicopters land and take off while soaking up the atmosphere in this legendary piece of Kenya’s aviation history. Chef Neil McCarthy and the Creative Kitchen Co. team moved into the restaurant at the Aero Club of East Africa on 1st October 2011. Neil has cooked and consulted all over the world, from London’s Mayfair Hotel and the Moscow Metropole to California’s vineyards and top-range hotels across Africa, including the Mt. Kenya Safari Club and Nairobi’s Tribe hotel. He is famous for his tasty gourmet burgers and dry-rub spicy BBQ ribs. He creates tasty international buffets and a la carte specialties. Sinful puddings include his New York style, melt in your mouth, baked cheese cake and home baked apple pie. He serves mouthwatering and seriously satisfying food.

If you like history and aircraft, don't miss this little gem! Some fantastic memorabilia on the walls and a decent hamburger style menu. Sit outside with a beer and watch the aviation activity. Nice staff and a great atmosphere. I expected Beryl Markham to appear at any time!

I fly out of Wilson Airport, with clients, at least once a week. We now leave our hotel as early as 6:30am just to have breakfast at the Aero Club. The Eggs New Orleans (eggs benedict but with a layer of fresh crab meat instead of ham) are truly amazing; as is all the sea food.
Neil's creative lunch menu is simply THE BEST in East Africa nowadays; and I fly all over East Africa.
Fair value, amazing food and great staff. This place simply can't be beat.

cheers, Mark R.

We opted to overnight at the Aero Club before flying from Wilson Airport to the Mara and after a drink in the bar had the unexpected pleasure of dining in their restaurant.
The decor was reminiscent of the old East African days, a prop here, an engine there, some old fly-boy pictures on the wall, a fireplace and the garden, pool and Wilson Airport runway a heart beat away.
The wine selection rather good and very reasonably priced. We opted to share a bottle of red Chillean wine and it was super. The menu was fun and extensive and one look at the giant sized burger being assembled at the cook's station was too much for my husband. The combinations on offer were wicked and he ordered one with a side order of chips that would have fed a family. Verdict? Delicious!
I chose fresh Lamu crab with a ginger sauce from the daily selection written up on the board,. I have not eaten crab as beautifully prepared as this in a long time, the sauce was subtle enough to compliment the delicate flavours of the crab and it was fresh and fabulous.
Even our cheesecake dessert was pretty good.
All in all, given the chance I would have liked to sample many of the selection on offer, choosing was quite difficult.. The menu was innovative, the food freshly prepared in front of us, the waitresses friendly and the service great.
Loved it!

I had a couple of excellent meals here in October this year. The secret lies in choosing really good fresh ingredients and treating them with care and imagination. Neil and his team seem to do that every time. I really loved the food and the totally relaxed ambience.
