We spent a very enjoyable time here. We got there early on a Sunday morning and had the place to ourselves including a private tour with the very knowledgeable Edgar. Some good birding in the grounds also. Very pretty spot and enjoyed hearing the history and seeing the house.

Our second time visiting this museum, and very worthwhile. What made the visit really interesting to us was that the guide, a young lady who certainly knew her history, took us first, before we visited the house, to sit under the trees in the garden, where she gave us a history of Karen Blixen, her life in Kenya, her writing and her painting. This set the context and made the visit much more interesting.

The house itself is beautiful, well kept and is furnished with a mixture of authentic and non-authentic but contemporary pieces. A piece of old Kenya which remains, and which speaks to you.

To note - no photography is permitted inside the house.

Unless you are a fan of Out of Africa, or of Karen Blixen, this was a truly boring bit of our trip. The house is incomplete, and not entirely accessible. There is a small bit of interesting history here, but not worth all of the time the trip requires.

Karen lived in this house and became museum. It will be interesting to visit if you have seen the movie or read the story book.

Have you seen the movie called "Out of Africa"? if so, this Karen Blixen Museum is the place hiroin Karen actually lived long time ago. The town named after her name. Many colonians lived Karen area before. These days many Kenyan (black) people live in the area.
