A chance to see wildlife up close!
Riding our own vehicle.

You can leave the car only in designated areas (picnic area, the ivory burning site...)

It's a real shame to see litter on the sides of the road, or around the picnic sites, though there are bins available. Maybe enforce it more strictly.

The Nairobi National Park is the closest protected area to a big city, perhaps the only one withing a city. It is very easily accessible from Nairobi city centre. We had very little time and had done 630-930 am brief ride - but those three hours were extremely rewarding. NNP has lions, zebras, giraffes, wild buffaloes, varieties of of antelopes, several different types of birds. We had sighting of a lioness with her kill from very close quarters; several sightings of groups of zebras but my most favourite were the giraffes walking around and grazing on tree leaves. If you are in Nairobi even with very little time in hand, I would still recommend this safari to you. We paid USD 140 for it, which included our pick and drop from the hotel. We were a group of 3, prices would have been lesser if our group was bigger. They put you in vans with only your group - and one van can easily fit 8-10 people.

We left the hotel at 6am and reached the park at about 630am. Once to entered the park not very far from the entrance we saw a lioness with 2 cubs later saw antelopes, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, rhinoceros (very far), ostriches, boat, a bigger lioness again toward the end... I have a thumb up !

If you aren't able to go on safari, or are short on time in Nairobi, this is the place to go. We lucked out on going during the week when the park wasn't so crowded. We had some good sightings, including rhinos. It's best to go early in the morning to get the best sightings. There's a little snack shop/cafe at the entrance, but I would recommend you bring some snacks along with you. Bring also your binoculars and guidebook to identify all the wildlife you'll see!
