“now you see now you dont!”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

I've been to Nairobi National park so many times during the past tens years and I can say I've enjoyed and/or disliked it depending on the season. In the rainy season, don't bother going because the vegetation is too tall and the animals are well hidden behind the bushes. But neither does the dry season guarantee a good sighting. To enjoy the visit ensure that you take along a local guide who has seen the animals the morning of the tour. It used to be fun seeing some pride of lions catching their prey, but not anymore after the neighbors hunted them down. But luck maybe on your side and catch sight of them like a needle in a haystack.

NNP is not a sibstitute to Masaai Mara or Amboseli rather its a good filler of time.

“You don't have to go far to see wildlife!”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

We visit the park almost every Saturday and still we find something new. You need to spend the whole day there - from opening to closing - to see the vast landscape, birds and wildlife. We are particularly interested in birds (my husband is a photographer and I am learning!) so you have to take your time and not race around the park like so many people do. There are nice picnic spots where you can get out of the car and stretch the legs and marvel at the spectacular views across the plains. Last Saturday we found new species of birds and saw five rhino - 4 x white and 1 x black, seeing the black was very exciting. There are all the usual animals one would expect to see except elephant - the park is not big enough to sustain them. We have seen giraffe drinking, baby baboons playing, lions, zebra fighting, there are a few dams so hippo and crocodiles can be seen..........the list is endless. If I tried to express my feelings about the park, this review would be pages long. Don't take my word for it - go and see for yourself. But please, do it justice, it does take a whole day and even then the whole park would not have been covered.

“Great park”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Nairobi National park is unique in being the only wild game park adjacent to a major city. The animals do migrate during certain seasons. Seeing the big cats is hit or miss, but the place abounds with Maasai Giraffe, gazelles, hartebeest, and both black and white rhino. Lots of birds, and even baboons. The best time to go is at opening and after 4:00 PM as most animals are smart enough to get out of the hot sun.

“Wonderful half day out”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Nairobi National Park is a microcosm of the Kenya game parks - with plains and forests and all the major mammals (except elephants). Lions and rhinos are possible to view, although never guaranteed. Giraffe, zebra, wildebeeste and eland are all frequent while leopards and cheetahs are rare. Also, on a really clear day, you can see both Mt Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro.

For those without a car, Kenya Wildlife Service provides rides.

A tip: this review is of the National Park. At the park gate you can also find the Safari Walk which is naturalistic zoo, and the Animal Orphanage, with is more of a zoo environment.
