“Absolutely Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

It was incredible to see such an amazing safari right in the middle of the city! I was in Nairobi for work and my boss arranged for a few colleagues and I to have a day of safari the day before our conference. He hired a great driver/guide to take us through and we couldn't believe that there was such incredible wildlife so accessible in the city.

To be fair, it'll be a bit difficult for you to see the 'big five' (lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos and leopards). If you are set on seeing all five, your best bet would be to head to Masai Mara (the Kenyan half of the more popularly known 'Serengeti'). But that's a distant and comparatively expensive trip that requires a flight and at least one overnight stay. If that's out of your time/price range, fear not. At Nairobi National Park, you will definitely see some of the five and, if you're lucky and in the right place at the right time you may see most.

At the opening of the park you are greeted by Masai warriors, in full dress, jumping and singing. Then you drive in and realize that the park is HUGE. Seriously, this is not Central Park. It's a world unto itself. During my tour, I saw elephants, buffalo and rhinos, as well as a ton of gorgeous giraffes, zebras, ostriches, antelope, wild deer, wild boars, alligators, and tons more. Note, this is not the zoo! You see these animals up close and personal from your guide's jeep. Amazing pictures and an unforgettable experience.

we had a super time passing through the game park en route to our next destination, there was loads of game and birds, we never saw any big cats but saw loads of impala hearty beast and many many more, also had a wee trip to the hippo pool, what a super place.

Average is exactly what it is, if you are a non- resident, this experience is completely overpriced. The service is slow and annoying, their is no decent places to buy refreshments. The roads is horrible and have not been fixed in years. There is also limited animals to see.

“Affordable and accessible safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

I liked the size of the park; big enough but not too big to get lost.
I also liked the variety of animals we saw. Lions were hard to find though.
Careful with the baboons at the rest area; three of them stole chips bags from a family getting ready to have a picnic.

“if you do nothing else...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

If you are visiting Kenya and you have absolutely no time and money to arrange a trip to the world famous Masai Mara, do not worry! You can get the feel of Masai Mara by visiting the Nairobi National Park....minus the long arduous trip.

It is a most refreshing experience and you get to see lots of wild animals in the wild within the city, how cool is that? And yes, we do get the odd leopard and lion straying out of the park and into people's residences as was the case in Kitengela a few months ago.

You also get to join conservation efforts after you see how mankind has encroached on wildlife territory.

So if you do nothing else in Nairobi, do make a point of visiting the National park in the city.
